What do you see?
Not in a "looking within yourself," kind of way.
More of a, "when you open your eyes what is the first thing you see," kind of way.
You probably see the usual thing, your room. Maybe you see some stranger's room because of a one night stand. Maybe you see a hospital room because you were in a coma.
Chances, are you see your room.
Want to know what I see?
A broken world constantly turning and changing and evolving.
People I would never meet, friends I would never make, lovers I never fell for.
Dragons spitting fire, giants holding my possessions so high that I can't reach it.
This, this is what I see.
Only one thing stands out to me. A single pill.
It holds so much power for such a small thing.
It wipes my world away and brings me to a new one.
I pick it up.
I put it in my mouth and drink some water.
The pill slides down my throat and takes effect.
My world disappears before my eyes.
The fire breathing dragons turn out to be nothing but lights on the ceiling.
The Giants keeping my items above my head are nothing but shelves.
And everyone I saw is gone.
They turn into an item or disappear all together.
My brain starts to hurt. My eyesight is clouded by darkness.
I close my eyes and see my world disappearing. It is etched into my memories because I see it so much.
When I open my eyes. I see the truth.
What do you see?
Not in a deep subconscious level.
Not you looking within yourself to see who you truly hard.
I Mean it in a way where you wake up and see something or someone.
The first thing you see and the way you see it. It is engraved in your mind for some reason and you can't wait until tomorrow.
What do you see?
A world of destruction?
Or a world of peace?
A broken world that is so Fragile it can fall apart at any second?
The world is a beautiful place.
And then I see the pill.
The pill which snaps me out of everything.
I take it because I have to.
It takes effect immediately and I see a room.
It is an incredible white and there is someone next to me.
They're trying to speak but I can't hear.
The pill is sitting on the table.
I reach for it and the world disappears.
I close my eyes.
What do you see?
The pill?
The pill?
The pill?
The pill?
Tell me you see it.
The pill that haunts your dreams.
I take it again.
And again.
And again.
Oh the pill.
The destroyer of worlds and the creator or new ones.
WHAT DO YOU SEE?!?
I see it.
The pain of family.
The pain of friendship.
The pain of love.
So much pain.
And then I take the pill.
The pain turns to something good.
I embrace it.
I am one with the pill. The pill is mine. You can't have it.
Ever...
What do you see?
Do you see the forgotten dreams?
Do you see the lost souls?
Every single world that was created in dreams, all at the fingertips of a single man or woman or child.
And then the pill takes the power and it disappears.
Everything is gone.
And then I open my eyes.
Or do I?
The worlds collide and there is so much confusion.
The pill makes it so clear.
I take it.
What do you see?
I see myself. A broken, hollow version of myself.
It hurts too much to look.
And then the pill emerges.
The worlds collide.
Power, power, power.
All of it.
Give me the pill.
Give it. Give it!
The pill.......
What do you see?

Edited by Pyrotek__11: 5/11/2016 8:06:43 PM1st off, this is not a story. It is poetry. What do we do with poetry? We find the meaning. My interpretation...
First, it is literal. It is describing how someone with something like schizophrenia thinks. How their world looks. The pill is the only thing that connects them to reality. They need it, because it gives them truth; what is truth? Because of their condition, they cannot distinguish which reality is real; theirs, or the pill's. The pill becomes something needed, but at a cost. It is different for everyone. The pill enables the person to function/remain/be. For many it's money, something required that turns corrupts. It can be anything; government, people, jobs, family, reputation, looks, etc... All this and more can be the pill as long as it limits you, but to stop "taking the pill" would be disastrous. Towards the end, I see life as the pill. Some become addicted to their pill, then depression kicks in. Eventually, some may resort to a different pill. One that gives silence and takes away everything. Yet the question still remains, what is your pill?
Very well written.

Does this character take ADHD pills?
-
I see it as an incredible metaphor for the lure of giving up, and the way that it destroys our souls, minds, and beings.
-
That was really good. Well done.

Edited by TadPaul01: 5/12/2016 11:48:08 AMThat was pretty good. Maybe you should take it to a publisher of someone who's going to officially put it out there for everyone to read
