This week's Nigthfall

Howdy, Guardians. Just thought I'd share my experiences with this week's Nightfall. So, this time up, it's none other than the Nexus, located in the Ishtar Sink on Venus. I 'may' have decimated my sleeping patterns for another week by staying up absurdly late to beat this guy with my pal from the States, so I might as well impart some advice… for whatever that's worth. Leading up to the boss, there aren't really any sections to be overly worried about. This is easily the game's shortest Strike, thanks to a lack of wave sections or sub-bosses. The only area you really have to keep your wits about you pre-Nexus is when dealing with the three Servitors and their assorted minions early on. Best strategy is to either pile in with Aethon's Epilogue if you have it (thanks to this week's Burn that provides 4X Void damage) or to stay back at the entrance to the area and clear house with ranged weapons. When you eventually get to the area where the Nexus lives DON'T immediately drop down into his chamber. Instead, take out the Minotaurs that prowl his layer from the ledge you enter from – again, try to use Void snipers if you can. Once you take out his ocular-challenged subordinates, drop down and immediately pelt it to the outside perimeter; you'll want to make sure you're protected by stone pillars. It's best to stand several feet behind any cover, as when Nexus spawns, his splash damage is truly monstrous. The strategy that worked for me was keeping together with one other Guardian behind a set of pillars, while Fireteam member three stayed in close proximity, occasionally drawing the boss' stare. If two of you stick together and keep poking your heads out to take popshots from behind the pillars, you'll whittle his health down quickly enough. The two Guardians buddying up should also be able to draw the ire of any spawning enemies. A Titan with the Defender subclass (God bless that bubble) and a Warlock with Sunslinger (resurrect yourself!) make an ideal pairing here. The real key to the fight is not being greedy. Because of his splash damage, the Nexus can easily take you out in two to three hits. Don't chance your luck by trying to go for that extra shot. Be patient and err on the side of caution (and keep using those oh so burny Void weapons) and you should rifle through his healthbar in 8-10 minutes. Good luck… and hopefully you’ll get better unlocks than me. Stupid Exotic chest armour that I already had, I’m looking at you :(
