Pokémon (The Games, not the Anime)

Does anyone remember the good old days of encountering their first pidgey on route 1 in generation 1? Or defeating Red on Mt. Silver in generation 2? Perhaps the Regis of generation 3? The exhilarating mountains of generation 4's Sinnoh? It seems to me that the Pokemon franchise has a long way before it comes even near death. I myself have not played any of the new generation 5 games. I must say that I did enjoy HeartGold. It reminded me of my earlier years in the second generation: crossing from Johto to the old Kanto region. What is everyone's favourite generation?

Gen1 will always be my favorite. Call it nostalgia, I don't care. It will always be my favorite regardless. Gen2 was really good as well. Great starters. Gen3 was my least favorite but the starters weren't TOO too bad. Gen4 was also bad and probably had the worst starters imo. Gen5 is now my 3rd favorite generation (behide 1&2). They still have some god awful Pokemon, but surprisingly the good outweighs the bad. I really liked the starters as well.
