They have a program called WIC that is eligible to women and children at "nutritional risk" where they can only buy whole grain food I think. Something like this needs to be implemented to curve obesity instead of seeing checkouts of $30+ on Debbie Cakes and Twinkies.

I can't count how many times I've seen people buy their food with the EBT card or Lone Star card then buy their beer and cigs with cash. I like it when they're covered in tattoos and have $800 phones. I watched part of a documentary, I'll have to find the name of it, and they interviewed a woman on food stamps. She was making $70K a year and getting $1200 a month in assistance. She even admitted to being a weed smoker. That's how you buy votes in the Democratic Party my friend.

Honestly, as someone who is favor of food stamps I really couldn't care less if people are obese or not. This just seems like a way to give money to friends of those in power.
-
Tldr: because obesity is a bigger issue than hunger, let's reduce food stamps. But really. Even taking out food stamps Lower income groups have higher obesity rates anyways. It's not a issue of food amounts it's a issue of food quality as well as time to exercise while some work two jobs or low income because they are still in school

Yes, the food stamp system is very broken. If you ask me, which no one ever does, you shouldn't be allowed to buy junk food or alcohol with food stamps. Of course many people think it's the government's job to pay for the things they want.

Food stamps are finicky. I'm on food stamps and my family only buys the off brand quality food. Times are a tad rough for wife and I but we are penny pinchers. Don't buy tobacco, alcohol, expensive shoes(my Jordan's are 4 years old and are beat up bad). Once a month I treat my wife and son to a nice steak dinner stand that's it. I used to work retail and it would blow my god damn mind how people would come in with the latest iPhone, buy a carton of smokes and pull out the EBT card on junk food.

So one factor in I'm not sure was addressed. It's cheaper to eat unhealthy... Food stamps go further with crap food. That's not the program or food stamps fault that's America's priorities.
-
Don't worry, they'll probably just tax "unhealthy" food.

But who will build the roads? Thread invalidated.
