Who else is dealing with this? How are you coping?
I spent months growing out my hair in an effort to get a style similar to John Stamos (when he played Uncle Jessie in 'Full House'), only to realize that my hair is thinning and now receding.
The frustration...

BALD. BALD IS THE WAY TO GO.

Edited by Predator5791: 3/25/2014 7:18:38 PMUPDATE: Got a haircut that hides my hairline — or at least brings less attention to it. Literally spent months growing out my hair for nothing, can't even say that I saved money because my cuts are free.

Edited by Daniel Fortesque: 4/30/2014 10:32:17 PMTry Propecia or Rogaine? The two only proven to work treatments for hair loss.I know that Propecia typically isn't covered by insurance and can cost up to $80 for a 1 month supply but there are ways of getting it cheaper. Just ask your doctor. I'm on my first month using it, so it's too early for me to comment on the results. I have briefly tried Rogaine but stopped because it was 1. Too expensive, 2. Had to be applied twice a day, every day, and 3. It would make your hair very wet and it looked odd with a patch of wet hair surrounded by dry hair.

Does anyone know if I could grow a lush beard by applying rogain to the face once daily? I feel like if I don't grow one by 21 I've let myself and every one of my celtic ancestors down.

Hate the hairline, not the hair

Always had real thin hair and a weird twirl on the top of my head that made it look like I was balding, about a week or two ago I went clean shaved, should have done it a loong time ago

It seemed like the day I turned 18 my hairline decided to retreat a couple inches. Now I'm 20 and it has gone further and I'm dealing with a thin spot on the top of my head. -blam!- my life
-
Although not as far as yours, my hairline is also kind of like that. You really notice it when your hair grows out and it is annoying as shit.

I have too much hair, you can have some of mine babe

There I was in highschool, with long, gorgeous hair. That was the prime of my life, everybody loved and adored my hair. Then, graduation day came, and I wanted to look my best, so I got my hair cut short. It never grew back. Where am I at now? Well, I am just a junior in college, with thinning, shoulder-length hair, regretting my decision to ever get it cut. I cope by just keep telling myself, in six more years, I will be able to afford whatever treatment there is. For those who don't are not able to afford treatments, just remember, you are not alone. There is many other brothers out there who know your troubles and pains. Live well, my bald brothers.

I've had a terrible hairline since elementary school, and now it is finally thinning. Yeah it sucked looking at all the kids with cool hair. But then I shaved my head, starting working out and now I look bad-ass. So I coped with it through muscle gain. Sounds retarded but you replace a loss of confidence with confidence in another area.

This could happen to me in the future. How old are you OP?

Edited by Explodingpiglets: 3/24/2014 12:49:37 AMGet your doctor to put you on finasteride. It is cheap and it will stop hair thinning. EDIT: You're good looking btw.

I was pretty much born with that hairline.
-
Man I had a weird dream where I lost all my hair and I freaked out. But I don 't have this problem since I'm 20.

I'm lucky enough not to have to deal with this. Unfortunately my hair is very thick for a white person, this trait runs in my dads side of the family so I can't grow it out any more than an inch because it's naturally curly and I get a -blam!-ing jew fro. I feel bad for my brother because he takes after my mom's side of the family where all the men have male-pattern baldness and he's got a wicked crow's peak. I do have a couple gray hairs though, I've had them since I was like 18, and I'm only 24 now. I haven't gotten any more of them since I turned 18 though, kinda weird.
