In the picture near the Warlock's head there is a floating ball. This makes me think that there might be companions or pets. I want to know what other people think. Thanks for your comments!

Perhaps an expendable drone. Certainly not a common item, and capable of being destroyed. Just like your pet would have to be, and who wants that?

its called a ghost its kinda like the fairy that follows you around in zelda. hopefully you understand that

Who digs up these old threads?

This post is from way back in April, guys. We should all know by now that the floating orb is called a "Ghost" and that every Guardian will get one. Bungie hasn't said anything about pets although I highly doubt they'll put them in the game.
-
I want little animal/alien pets. Maybe a dog-like creature or a bird. Like Bloodwing from Borderlands. A drone with AI would be cool too. Something a kin to ED-E from Fallout: New Vegas.
-
Pets cause there beast and AWSOME
-
we will have a drone called a gost but a pet whold be cool
-
I doubt Bungie will make pets after their claims that it isn't an MMO, but there will be ghosts. I do believe that these are more akin to cortana rather than a typical pet.
-
im beginning to think we will have a companion of a sort, maybe we all get a ghost but a customizable ghost?
-
Everyone will have one. It more or less acts as a guide.

I would like a well trained wolf or German Shepard :3 Love both dog breeds. (Not sexually)

World of Warcraft all over again
In European folklore and folk-belief of the Medieval and Early Modern periods, familiar spirits (sometimes referred to simply as "familiars") were supernatural entities believed to assist witches and cunning folk in their practice of magic
It's possible that this is the "mythic sci-fi" version of such. Pure speculation tho'.

I thought it might be some kind of drone, like Engineer powers in mass effect. I want to believe there's some kind of follower system though.

I dont know about this... seems fun, but it will drive me nuts to see everyone in a common area with their pets following them. Maybe if they just stay in your ship? Somewhat like ME3 and the dog, but hopefully would roam the whole ship, not just the bay.
-
I like that idea. Someone to keep you company wen there's no one else at the moment.

I already posted this in another thread, but it seems applicable so... I think the hunter should get pets, in typical hunter fashion, at this point I don't see any other reason to play one. But with a pet, I can imagine using my human hunter, who grew up with his pet space tiger. I lived on the fringes of the last city, too poor to live In the upper class center. I had to fight for my existence; hunt to provide for myself and my family. One day when I was hunting, I found an abandoned tiger pup. I nurtured it back to health, and trained it to help me hunt. I am a loner, and my tiger is the only one I trust, but necessity causes me to join with other guardians, to save the world I still resent. So, in short, bungie needs to give hunters pets.
-
I like the idea of the hunter having a pet, similar to Mordecai's Bloodwing in Borderlands.
-
In a lot of concept art, it shows these weird lookin tigers with big long ears. Im not sure if they can be owned by players or if theyre just there.
-
There is a good chance that companions and pets may be in the game. As in a lot of the concept art they're pets standing next to Players/Characters. Check out our channel for Destiny Info! http://www.youtube.com/user/DestinyInvestors?feature=mhee Btw that's our most recent video!

Edited by Kafuu Chino: 4/8/2013 6:40:13 AMI would love to have a wolf accompany my lone Hunter while exploring different worlds. However I don't really want pets/companions to engage in combat, unless your companion was a combat drone, because I don't think a tiger or wolf could successfully attack a group of Cabal or take down a sword and gun wielding Fallen captain. Maybe you could send them out to kill a single enemy while you are hidden, granted the enemy can be feasibly taken down by your companion and it is unaware of you or your companion's presence.
-
probably no pets but you companions yes. the floating ball i would consider one. and it might be customisable
-
well ehm in the demo there was this same kinda thing he released, it was to dark for the guardians to continue so he pulled out his pet/AI/whatever to go and look for a a light switch. Just check out the demo for yourself

A ghost?
-
I'm willing to bet money that is the warlock's ghost.
