do you think it was a good idea for bungie to give up halo?

Im happy they did because now i get halo games and destiny games. Its awesome even though i still have to wait alot of freaging time
-
I honestly wish they didn't, but hey they probably gave up halo so they can focus fully on destiny, and so far their doing a great job.

It probably was good for Bungie to give the Halo franchise to 343i. After all, Bungie wouldn't be able to focus on finishing Destiny if they had to continue working on Halo games.

MS fired them

Halo can't be compared to Call of Duty, but look at how bad Call of Duty: Ghosts is compared to past Infinity Ward games. It has a lot in common with Modern Warfare 3, and hasn't improved much in my opinion. What if that happened with Halo? Or did it already with Halo: Reach, Bungie's last Halo game?

I don't think they gave up on halo cause there is another halo coming soon.
-
They didn't give up on Halo they finished the story with Halo 3. The other two they made were for the fans.

I give up on this community because ideas like the one proposed in this thread persist.

Sad but yeah it was a good idea so that they could make destiny a great successor
-
This isn't giving up, no this is letting go

Bungie didn't give up on Halo. They sabotaged it. Kill the soon to be competing franchise to make Destiny do better. Reach was the atomic bomb they carefully crafted to sink the sci-fi world of Halo to make room for fans to come to Destiny. Many now hate halo and while I don't see Destiny as the greatest thing since sliced bread many ex-halo fans do. This is at least what I will believe because Reach was underwhelming to say the least.

Edited by Qasr Deldour: 12/17/2013 12:55:27 AMLooking at Destiny it was a good idea for bungie to give up on Halo. After seeing halo 4, it was not as good of a thing for the halo universe.

I think Bungie deserved better - and to flex their creative muscle
-
It was the best decision ever.
-
No they haven't, Bungie just wanted to start out fresh again...

Edited by SilverGostRider: 12/15/2013 7:17:25 AMIt was a good thing to do so Bungie could focus all their attention to destiny.

Their contract ended with M$, so Microsoft gave Halo to 343i (Possibly the dumbest mistake M$ has ever made). lol at every fag who answered the poll.

Giving up and moving on are two completely separate things. After ten years, as a developer you might want to try new things. Developing for a series like Halo, you have your balls in the vice of the fanbase; go too far off from the core of the series and you'll be singing only the high notes to your favorite songs. They wanted to do different stuff so they had to make a new IP for that; in fact it gives a breeze of fresh air to the industry. If this were ever the case, as unlikely as it is, there probably isn't much preventing them from making a new Halo if they so choose. I'm sure Microsoft and 343i would jump at the chance to get Bungie involved in a new project. Spartan Assault proves that they're willing to let other developers make games for the series.

Bungie didn't give up on Halo.

I thought Microsoft gave up on bungie?

Bungie didn't "give up" on halo. What happened was this: Bungie wanted to make their own content. A contract binded Bungie (and halo) to Microsoft. Bungie left Microsoft Microsoft kept Halo Microsoft gave Halo to 343I
-
They didn't give up, they were under contract w/ MS for 10 years
-
We finished our fight. Time to move on. Imagine if the Call of Duty series actually stopped to consider "What if we could make an even better series? You know, instead of playing it safe and making the same game a dozen times?"

Bungie did not "give up", but I clicked A because DESTINY
