So the Grammys just ended and as usual the best album of the year was announced last and the nominees for the honor were:
1989 – Taylor Swift
Sound & Color – Alabama Shakes
To Pimp a Butterfly – Kendrick Lamar
Traveller – Chris Stapleton
Beauty Behind the Madness – The Weeknd
Aside from the jokes of including 1989 and Beauty Behind for best albums, it seemed pretty decent list of top albums of the year. Although it was pretty clear from the get go who was going to win album of the year, not only for average review scores but also for social impact and innovation the album brought forth, which is what matters in the music industry when you give out top honors, right? RIGHT? We'll, who won you ask?
-blam!-ING 1989 FROM TAYLOR SWIFT
TAYLOR -blam!-ING SWIFT
Load of absolute shit and everybody knows it. No way an album that averages 76 out of 100 on reviews should or could possibly win over an album that averages a 96 and has been widely considered the highest rated album of it's genre ever released, of course not that review scores should matter despite being spot on this time. This is literally an insult to all the work put into that album by Kendrick and all his collaborators, who happen to be considerably more talented and versatile than Taylor Swift could even dream of.
What good has 1989 done to the world that TPAB did not? Hell 1989 didn't do any actual good to the world to begin with, it's just another album. It didn't change lives or peoples views on certain touchy or taboo subjects. Nothing, it's just another above average album that's catchy with not much substance to it but is exactly what the masses enjoy, a pure sellout album (1989 is considered TS's first official pop album, departing totally from her country roots). God forbid they actually have to listen and understand actual constructed lyrics that don't fly over their heads on the first listen, but that would be asking too much of them. This is exactly what is wrong with music nowadays, albums that innovate and bring variety to the barren landscape that is currently mainstream music and have the power to have an effect on it aren't recognized as they should.
Although he deserved the award, Kendrick will no doubt always value his fans appreciation way above it, as it should be. It just pains me yet again he's been robbed, same as with GKMC. Still happy for all the other awards he rightfully deserved, especially best collab for 'These Walls' with Thundercat (who I met on Saturday) and amazing Anna Wise. Oh yeah, he also lost 'Best Song' to Ed Sheeran. Absolutely retarded. Happy to see D'Angelo won awards he rightfully deserved and sad to see Tame Impala, Wolf Alice, Courtney Barnett and Hiatus Kaiyote not win theirs.
What were your thoughts on this years Grammys?

1989 is a timeless class, Twsift all the way!! #swiftys
-
What a shame. There are much better artists and albums out there.
-
Man I can't believe Nickleback didn't win
-
Why does everyone want to steal Taylor Swift's awards? :(
-
All the albums were shitty, anyway. Who cares witch one wins the "least shittiest" album of the year award if it's still shitty?
-
Kendrick Lamar would only win in your 'Wildest Dreams'
See what I did there
-
Did Adele win anything?
-
Good job Taylor Swift!!! You deserved it!
-
Congrats Taylor Swift

After Kendrick didn't get it with GKMC I honestly stopped paying attention to the Grammys cause I realized they don't mean shit
-
Oh yea country got one!
-
1989 probably sold more than the other nominees combined, times two. That is your answer.
-
The reason why Tswift won over Kendrick is because the big people don't want to give best album of the year to a black rapper. And, as I understand, Tswift is the only other decent album. So give it to her.
-
While I think Kendrick probably should've won, Taylor did have a pretty solid year. Plus, there's more pop fans than rap fans out there (at least in my experience), so it was probably a "people's choice" kinda thing.
-
The Grammys mean absolutely nothing except for the award for best album sleeve. It's honestly pretty disgusting.
-
Haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate
-
Does noone understand how amazing traveller was?!?!? He deserved that more than anybody... also deserved best new artist
-
I actually liked BBTM...
-
Kendrick deserves it from getting robbed with good kid to that bullshit album who one (not even going to say it) truly deserves it n I'll defend why

Edited by Solaire: 2/17/2016 3:06:41 AMI wouldn't trade The Ding Dong Song (XL-Version) for all or any of those albums. I hate that song but it's hilarious and catchy.
-
In reality, none of those albums really "saved lives" so...
-
I have never heard of any of those albums, and I am ok with that.

Kendrick is literally the most consistent artist in all of music right now, and made an album which will be put in the Hall of Fame next to Mobb Deep's The Infamous and Wu Tangs 36 Chambers, and they give it to Taylor Swift and her [extremely mediocre] album? What a joke, any music reviewer, no matter their taste of music, will agree that TPAB is way above anything put out the last 10 years. This is like people giving Adele's 25 a 9/10, dear god it was the most mediocre an album can get but people still circlejerk to it because she made one good song years ago. Not to mention the fact that Adele is nothing special, just like Taylor Swift.

Best album pick was also Most Predictable Moment of Grammys.
