Summary:
July 25th, 2557:
Black Team watches as waves of objects exit slipspace in the sky of Installation 03. As a new wave touches down, they noticed one of the objects landed close by. As they investigate, they discover the Didact, who quickly wakes up and executes them. Shortly after, a Monitor emerges from the Composer's resting place and is surprised to find the Didact and his Prometheans on the ring. He announces himself to be 859 Static Carillon, who the Didact quickly recognizes as the Keeper of the Composers. Carillon responds by identifying the Didact and notes that he is the master of his charges. The Didact requests an explanation as to why Carillon is on Gamma Halo, and is told of a service portal to the Composer's Forge. He quickly orders Carillon to take him.
July 26th, 2557:
Blue Team arrives through the Portal and finds themselves in a Forerunner city. They notice a light on in a tower up ahead, and Kelly points out that Black Team's killers are probably there. However, the Master Chief expresses doubt at there being multiple killers, theorizing the Didact is the one responsible.
As they traverse the city, they discover six Composers. As they approach them, the Didact reveals himself and announces they are in the Composer's Forge. As Blue Team fires on the Didact, his armor emits a shockwave, knocking them on the ground. Unimpressed at Blue Team's efforts, the Didact claims he has already won. As he summons his Prometheans to fight Blue Team, Carillon appears and expresses his anger over the Didact breaking the compact they had by creating more Prometheans. However, the Didact grabs assures his Prometheans will soon be sent to Requiem and reminds him to uphold his end of the Compact. He complies, and brings Installation 03 to the Composer's Forge where the Didact orders it to be repaired.
Carillon, still upset over the compact being broken, finds Blue Team who is fighting off hordes of Prometheans and alerts them to the Didact's plans. He explains that the Didact is repairing damages caused to Gamma Halo by humans, and that he says that the issue he has with the broken compact is that the newly Composed humans are tortured souls that will be added to the whole. He goes on and confirms that the Didact plans to take Halo after he's done repairing it and burn humanity from the universe with it. However, he clarifies that while he doesn't care about what happens to humanity, he does care about the broken compact and announces he will assist Blue Team.
As Blue Team reaches the portal to Gamma Halo, the Master Chief orders Carillon to close the portal behind them. As they exit the portal, they quickly realize the Didact is placing another Composer into the resting spot, and climb out before they are crushed. The Didact is waiting at the top though, and hits Blue Team. The Master Chief sneaks by though and readies his knife as the Didact is about to execute Kelly. He jumps on top of him and stabs his eye.
The Didact, enraged at not taking the time to kill the Chief when he had the opportunities, grabs Chief by the head and begins to crush his helmet, cracking his visor.

Decided to pick it up today when I was getting my other comics, here is what I have to say. 1. Art is absolutely horrible there's little to nothing going on in the background and the colors are very bland. 2. Everything happens way to fast Chief and crew go from entering a hall to finding six composers to the Didact repairing a Halo to fire at earth in less than 6 pages. Other than that it was okay, not worth 3.99 but it gets the job done.

Arbiter will show up and save the day

Edited by Trad: 8/28/2014 11:10:52 PMI'll be reading the next issue with my heart in my throat, hoping none of blue team is killed.
The Master Chief sneaks by though and readies his knife as the Didact is about to execute Linda.
Why is it that both you, and the writer, seem to be confusing Linda and Kelly with each other? lol
-
Summary is done.
-
You'd think Chief would have learned to not engage the Didact up close after barely escaping with his life last time. Do tell, how did he manage to escape this time? Also love to see that the Didact is becoming a full blown badass villain. Using a Halo on Earth is messed up lol
-
I'm just wondering how they're going to explain this in the start of Halo 5. We all know not everybody reads these.
-
So because of Chiefs crack-face, do you think we'll eventually get him some new duds? Maybe even a Mk. VII

I should have really listened to the spoiler tags. Like really the first sentence ruined it for me. But I must say, this issue has me pretty excited
-
It's definitely starting to feel like Halo 5 will require some prior reading...

Dayumm chief got rekt
-
Book looks awesome, however, I got The Art of Destiny instead this year
mainly because I was pissed off about not getting the Ghost edition....
-
Jeez the Didact is a -blam!-ing super villain now. I'm ok with this.
-
I MC had his CE pistol and Scarab gun he could've wiped the floor with the Didact Sarcasm off Who would win in a fight? Iso-Didact or Ur- Didact?
-
So is there a way to re purpose the rings into fire composing rays to compose the whole earth? that is what kinda thought.
-
Alright, questions. 1: what is an "NP" promethean? 2: is there any more info about this monitor? It would seem to go against normal forerunner operating procedure (i.e. 343 Guilty Spark and his compartmentalization) to give one AI influence over the composers AND halo arrays (plural?)
-
Wait, I don't understand, why would the Didact want to use the Halo rings? I thought he was against using them
-
Edited by Eirikur: 8/27/2014 3:08:56 PMThat was a pretty awesome read. I really liked this frame with Didact, it made him look like the all-powerful forerunner he is! Spoiler's of course. Poor black team encountering Didact like that. I felt like this comic presented Didact in a much better way than Halo 4. In Halo 4 all he did was float around talking. Here we actually got to see a glimpse of what he's actually capable of. Not just random force grips here and there. I'm starting to like Didact more and more as a character, they're really fleshing him out now.
-
god damn man. reading all these notes makes me really want to head out and pick up the escalation comics. what was the end of the issue? was it just chief getting slapped around?
-
Alright, crazy theory time, there's six Halo's left, and the Didact has six Composers. The Didact goes to Installation 03 and places one of the Composers back into the spot where he took the Halo 4 one from. Being that both the Halos and Composers are Builder designs, I think they were designed to work in tandem.

Edited by NAStheMagiking: 8/27/2014 4:58:54 PMI would love to see the image of Didact's hands around John's skull. Sounds intense.
