Scenario: You successfully ask a girl/boy that you have known for some time out on a date and are presented the option of using a coupon to pay their share.
Would you do it? Why or why not? If yes, why? If not, when would it become acceptable to use a coupon on a date, if ever? How would you feel if the roles were reversed, and your date payed with a coupon?
Bonus question: are there any other rules of dating etiquette that you object to? Examples: men should pay for food, men should drive, women wearing makeup, kissing on the first date, not using your cellphone while on the date, etc.
Personally, I would never use a coupon on the first date. I'm not sure why, but the idea of using a coupon on a date is emasculating, and I believe it would weaken that first impression.
I'd say after the fifth date or so I might feel comfortable using a coupon. However, I would be fine if my lady payed with a coupon on the first date.
Discuss away!

Money is money man. Of course knowing my luck, I'd bring the wrong coupon and try to pay for her dinner with "50 cents off any three jars of Ragu pasta sauce."

If you're going to the type of restaurant that gives out coupons you're probably doing something wrong. Coupons for activities are fine.

Always dine and dash first date.

I don't really use coupons. I certainly wouldn't do it on a first date if I were to though, because it seems like every time I try to use something like that, they have some strange stipulations on it. I don't wanna have to deal with the restaurants bullshit while also trying to convince some poor lady what a wonderful idea it would be to sleep with me. As for the other stuff, I always drive, date or not, if I can help it. I pay. I can't stand folks that keep their face in their phone while they're hanging out with others. Yes please to kissing on the first date. Hell yes to sex on the first date. Makeup depends on the chick. I've known some that I actually thought looked better without makeup. Some needed that shit bad.

Explain to her that saving money now gives you more money to buy her things later. Not that you actually will.

No, because I wouldn't want to spend any money on them in the first place.

Only if she was from Aberdeen.

Yes. Girls like financially responsible men.

If you have confidence you do what you feel like doing.

Where are you eating on a date that takes a coupon? Burger King?
-
Do gift cards count?

i'd ask if they want to use it in a way that doesn't make me look like a cheap -blam!-. bonus question: on the first date you should go halves on the bill. second date onwards you can offer to pay it all (or they can) since you've decided to at least try to get a relationship going.

Uh, duh.
-
Of course I would. Who wouldn't? Saving money FTW!

How is saving money a bad thing?

If she is to snooty for a good thing, then she is to snooty for me.

Sure, saves money.
