Last night Holly and my cat, buddy, were fighting. I thought Bud was going to get hurt so I opened the dog door. I'm so stupid. Mom and Ryan always told me not to let her out, that she'd get into trouble unsupervised. But I never listened.
And she ran out, and I never gave it a second thought, until my little brother announced he was unable to sleep because he couldn't find Holly. I told him it'd be fine. I knew she couldn't be in any trouble. And we both went back to bed and for a minute, just a minute, I was scared.. Then I went to sleep.
I woke up this morning to Mom and Ryan worried, anxious because Holly never came home last night they said. I got scared too. Went to take a shower while they searched the neighborhood.
I stepped out of the shower and began drying off when I heard doors slam and Ryan unleash this scream of grief and horror and outrage, something inhuman, like a wild animal being slowly turn apart by paleolithic hunters. And I knew. My legs buckled, and I fell down. "I killed my dog I killed my dog I killed my dog". I heard mom speak through the bathroom door. Taken by a car, she says. It halved her little body. Must've been decent folks, they left a blanket over her.
I let my dog die, TFS. Instead of taking her to the back room I let her out. I killed her. I killed the only thing I'd ever known to love me unconditionally. I'm a goddamn murderer.

So instead of looking you were praying? Smart.
-
God had that car hit your dog so you could find it and it didn't run away. You should be thanking him.

Considering what OP usually posts I'm not sure if this is a pasta. If it's true, sorry man.

I have a dog named Holly, too!

Just remember this OP: She would have eventually died anyway. You will eventually die anyway. It will all eventually be forgotten.

Instead of wasting your time believing in something paranormal, you could be searching for it during the night. I feel for you, but I would never sleep in a situation like that. I would do everything in my power to find it. I had a similar situation with my cat when I was 11. It was a 6 year old persian cat that lived in the house all the time, it literally never wanted to leave the house. But one day, the little, sorry excuse of a man that calls himself my father decided to forcefully throw it outside, because the cat wasn't castrated and got into it's mating season so it peed all over the house. The cat literally just stood by the door for some days, wanting to get in. Then one day it moved to the toolshed and became extremely aggressive to everyone, because my dad was kicking it. After a few days it ran away and we never saw it again. It was august, I dedicated the whole month to searching for it day/night, but I never found it.

Thats rough man, My dog died of heath problems two years ago. But its not your fault. Just because you let her out does not mean you caused her death.
-
My dog got out from my grandparents house once, and he was gone overnight, but fortunately in the morning he was jumping at their back gate to come back in. My grandparents always said you'd never seen two 85 year-olds move so fast :P OT: Sorry about your dog man, shit happens, and it wasn't your fault.
-
That sucks and I would feel bad if I was you too. But its not the end of the world. People "kill" their dogs alot of ways. Some people leave chocolate unattended. All you did was let her out. Dont feel too bad.
-
Shit dude... That sucks.
-
Reported to the police, murderer.
-
I don't know what's worse: Watching my dogs all pass away, or this. I'm sorry.
-
It's not your fault, man. Stuff like this happens and there is nothing you can do about it. There is no point in blaming yourself and dreading over it. You have to move on and remember her for what she was and the good times together. She was going to die eventually, it's only natural. I'm sorry for your loss. :(

Reminds me of the time my dog got out one morning and came back soaking wet, coughing up blood and shaking. I cried so much when he was put down.
-
I'm sorry OP. You couldn't have expected the result when you let the dog out. It's not your fault.
-
Not sure if copypasta or blogpost....
-
Should have thrown the cat out instead.
-
You did not kill your dog. Just because it died after you let him out down not make you responsible. It's the person that hit with the car that did. Dogs die. It's not something to hate life about.
-
sorry to hear about that...
-
So sorry to hear that mate.
-
well um
-
You're turning to which god?
-
Wow so sorry to hear man. Don't worry though it aint your fault. Theres nothing you can do about it now just learn to move on.
