What's your opinion on this generation of gaming?
In reference to the 7th generation of video game consoles, I'd like to hear anything and everything you have to say about this generation of gaming, the good, the bad, and the ugly

Started of fine, but after 2007 have begun to decline in quality. I blame publishers wanting a quick buck.

2 Replies2012 sucked, save a few games that were overlooked. 2013 is half crap (Survival Instinct, Colonial Marines), and half glorious (BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider).

Wii: Bored everyone after about a month PS3: Like $800 upon release. Lol no thnks X360: Red Ring of Death 2/10 Would Not Play

Great. Video games have really come so far in the past 10-15 years. Mostly for the better.

Single player games are super awesome while all the mulitplayer games are all trying to be like each other.

FPS has gone to shit. Everything else is alright I guess.

Pretty decent, I enjoyed the previous one more because of the amount of games I've played compared to this generations, but I like it nonetheless. Games like Halo 3 kept me going for a looong time.

If for some reason beyond comprehension the 360/PS3 were the last consoles ever made I would be content. I don't need everything to be insanely real in terms of graphics. A good game is a good game, is a good game.

I'm 5th generation, and looking forward to the promising 8th. But for now, PS3 is where I ended up within the 7th (after 5 years of X360).

1 ReplyHad some of the greatest games (Mass Effect, Portal 2, etc.) and also had some of the biggest pieces of shit (yes I'm talking about you Modern Warfare 2!). But I personally think that it's better to look at the good games in a generation rather than the bad ones (since you can just ignore those) so I would have to say that this generation was fantastic, though I was sad about the lack of good Sonic the Hedgehog games.

At least, the era was good at the start. It's gone to shit in recent years, due to developers not listening to fans and casualizing every game until it sucks.

1 ReplyI enjoyed this generation of gaming, but it certainly had its faults. Motion controls were probably the absolute worst thing that happened. It broke immersion and hurt gameplay. It just made games that utilized motion controls bad. This generation also saw its fair share of bad games. Battlefield, Call of Duty, Halo, Brink, Resident Evil, Amy, Mirror's Edge, etc. The mediocre titles didn't hurt this generation a lot though. Titles and franchises such as Gears of War, Uncharted, Dishonored, Assassin's Creed, Fable, Bayonetta, The Darkness didn't really hurt the generation, but they didn't exactly help it. I do think the good games outweigh the bad. Games and franchises like Portal, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, Infamous, BioShock, The Walking Dead really made this generation amazing. Each of them had something amazing to them that really made this generation of gaming worth all of the bad. tl;dr The good outdoes the bad and I have poor writing skills

Well, for one there are just so many more casuals now. It's kind of irritating, but is mainly due to simply more people playing games.

2007 was, hands down, the best year of this generation and one of the best in history. Nobody can deny that.

The games: Quality has declined and people are eating that crap up. The players: Have got stupider and need to play games on babby mode. The publishers: Want more of your money regardless of game quality or customer satisfaction.

The community as a whole has been pathetic, what with all those 8 year old kids with bad parents playing m rated games now a days.
