Thanks Obama

Well, this came out of nowhere. On a related note 343 asked the laid off people to apply with them.
-
Meh, Feel sorry for the guys working there, but they only made one good game anyway
-
Damn shame. BioShock was my favourite new IP of the seventh generation, and seeing let go the people who worked so hard to create such an incredible series is a crushing blow. And this came on the same day that Cliff Bleszinksi proclaimed that disc-based games announced on magazine covers and shown off at E3 are dead; both he and Levine want to do something more intimate with their player base. I dunno about you lot, but I love AAA retail games with E3 showings and such. I understand more and more the industry is embracing independent, retro-styled projects by a handful of people, and I understand why the financial and infrastructural frames for those projects are so important, but I don't want to lose my aim-for-photorealism blockbusters. :/

They've only made a couple really good games...

Edited by ToastyWaffles: 2/19/2014 9:48:16 AMThis seems a little unnecessary to me. Why couldn't Levine simply... A) Leave Irrational with a small number employees to form their own team under 2K? B) Form a smaller developer team within Irrational to work on a different project?

Imma cry

Very sad news I loved the Bioshock franchise now I'm not sure it'll be the same if they continue it.
-
Lol. He sounds like a tool.
-
But... I wanted a System Shock 3 :(

Edited by Vgnut: 2/19/2014 5:39:41 AMI'm still a little confused about this. Does Levine and his small team of Irrational keep that studio name or is this developer gone for good? Because the Irrational brand carries weight. I don't understand why 2K would throw the brand away if there is still a Levine led team under their umbrella.
-
Damn. Infinite may have been kind of sucky but they were a talented bunch of people when they played their cards right. Maybe Levine being on a smaller team without the weight of AAA development will help him realize his vision better. Hope everyone lands on their feet.
-
I'm assuming 2K now owns the Bioshock IP.
-
I saw this earlier. Sucks pretty bad.
-
This makes me extremely sad. It's a really irrational thing to do (pun intended).

I wanted this to be a fun day and now it's not. :(
-
*crosses head* Why :c Good luck to them, and maybe they'll get back to doing what they do best someday.
-
That's... actually pretty depressing.
-
Meh, was never really a big fan of their games anyway. Looks like the employees are going to be taken care of since other 2K studios are going to be on hand to snatch up everyone who wants to work for them.
-
Wow. That's... sad. Good luck to them, definitely.
