Many of our members are happy to help out lower level guys and newcomers to the raid scene. That being said, we have found that we may have to set some guidelines to set ourselves up for success.
First off, VoG is easily manageable for most of our members that have been involved with raids at this point. I'm asking that anyone that doesn't have a very good understanding of VoG and how it's done, please do not sign up for Hard Mode raid groups, regardless of what level you are. We have no problem teaching newcomers, but Hard Mode is not the environment to learn in. What we ultimately want from our members that are raiding is to be able to understand all facets of the raid. Our groups will be much more successful if everyone knows how to use the Relic in all scenarios, etc. Once you're able to get through VoG on normal (I ask that members do it on normal several times before signing up for Hard Mode raids) then we can start taking the newcomers (who won't be newcomers anymore at that point!) through Hard Mode.
Secondly, when it comes to Crota, Please do not signup unless you have at least one of each type of weapon fully upgraded (1 Primary, 1 Special, 1 Heavy). Crota's End does require a lot of fire power (as we found out the other night =P) and without upgraded weapons it can be difficult to get through it in a timely and efficient manner. Xur sells weapon power ups to help speed up upgrading your weapons, so if you have to, please buy them.
Thirdly, We've added a lot of new members recently. I haven't gotten a chance to play with all of you yet, but welcome aboard! We will do our very best to make sure everyone is included on all levels, from the newcomers to raiding to the vets of raiding. Keep your eyes open for posted organized groups each week. As we grow, there will likely be more and more groups hosted throughout the week.
I know it can be frustrating to wipe over and over when trying complete a raid. Please be patient with everyone as they learn and get brought up to speed. We all joined a clan for a reason, and that reason is to have people to play with and be able to complete Raids/Strikes/Nightfall successfully, in an efficient and timely manner. We all want the same thing. Be patient as we grow and as we teach newcomers to raid properly. The more people we take the time to teach, the more successful groups we're going to be able to put together.
Lastly, friendliness and camaraderie are important in Devize. I know it can be frustrating to wipe over and over when trying to complete a Raid. (trust me, I've been there). If you're not willing to have patience with your group and aren't willing to play nice with others, then Devize is not for you. This is a team effort, not a solo effort. I don't care who you are, how good your gear is, or how good your are. Ass-Hattery will not be tolerated and if you do not want to play nice with others, you WILL be booted. The precedence has been set and everyone has been briefed on our guidelines and expectations.
TL;DR - Don't be an asshole in raids. Be patient with newcomers as they adapt to raiding. On the flip-side, do not sign up for raid groups unless you are properly equipped and prepared (Gear-wise and Weapon-wise).
Welcome to Devize and let's whoop some ass!
