Being a car guy banned from driving

I'm a huge car fan. I own three, and want more. I love driving, working on and modifying cars. However recently to do medical issues I've been banned from driving. This happened in August and it's been driving me crazy. I'm 22 years old and a senior in college so I feel like I'm back in middle school now. Thanks to these medical issues I also have little energy to do the activities I enjoy. I miss driving and I just miss cars. Anyway has anyone else had to deal with an issue like this?

  • While I'm not medically hindered at the moment, I'm floating in the same boat man. I own a 2000 v6 mustang and bought an 03 Mustang GT back in 2014 as a Weekend Cruise car and literally the day after I did an oil change along with other fluid changes and found a knocking sound coming from the engine. So at that time I hadn't a clue what to do so I took it to a local ford dealership. Worst decision ever and they said it was coming from the transmission... they got it wrong. Anyway fast forward to a couple months ago; me and my father are in our garage ripping the car apart. I was always a car person but never had hands on experience until this time. So this was a great thing. And I figured, "hey since i'm here, why not mod the car a bit?" Bought bigger cams, better clutch, intake manifold, headers with an xpipe, and a flowmaster catback exhaust, CAI and bigger throttle body, new hood, bumper, mirrors all of which need to still be painted, still needs a custom tune, bigger injectors, coil on plug kit, fuel rails, etc. The worst and best decision. However, it's getting to the point now where I have to save money. At 20 years old working part time and full time in college it's hard to find the time and money to work on the car. And while my father said he'd work on the car without me if I said it was ok, i want to learn and get the father son bond from working on the car. So long story short, the project slowly grinding along and for the past two years it's sat in a garage and has slowly been getting worked on. I haven't heard the car in a year and a half and it's killing me. It sucks not being able to drive the cars you love the most let alone drive in general and I can imagine and feel for what you're going through. I hope everything works out for the best just know they're waiting for you when you're all better! And when you get back into the drivers seat you'll have the biggest smile on face! We're all rooting for you! Have a great one!
