So again I'm thinking about selling my 914. It's a fun car but I hardly drive it and I'm not sure if I want to keep putting money into it. I'm still on the fence but I'm leaning more towards selling it. So I'm starting to consider alternative projects. I've been thinking about getting something American. I've never owner an American car so it might be a nice change of pace. I'm considering a gen 2 camaro and a Pontiac Sunbird. I'm still an import fan so I'm still considering some imports like a 1st gen Toyota Celica, 240sx, or NA Miata. Anyone else have any suggestions? Budget is about $6000.

I'm biased , but the 240sx.

here, take this Jackal and put it in the courtyard.

Edited by OspreyDrone: 1/23/2015 5:02:48 AMGet a 240sx (s13) . I've seen a few with a sr20 swap under 10k mainly because it's a dream they gave up in and just want to get rid of it

I have an na, great car, chuck on the nb brakes, 1"bigger rims, lsd if the one you get doesn't have, good clutch, water bypass hose(backend can have heat issues, especially with a turbo), better radiator, turbo if you like(will take a garret gt25(with head gasket spacer) setup like that will run 250hp easy, and a great neutral driver you can use everyday.

I think you should make something awesome out of a jalopy Go with one of the following: 64' reliant rebel 3 wheeled 83' Subaru GL 87' Yugo GV Why conform. Stand out I say make something out of nothing

I think you might be mistaking when you say 1st gen Celica. Those cars are super rare and go for about 10 grand easy. You might be thinking 3rd and most likely 4th gen Celicas.

'84 300zx, hatch back with the T-top.

How about a Buick Regal Grand National?
-
Foxbody mustang.

For 6k you can find a 79's vette if you look hard enough. Also if you're an import fan but are looking for something americanesge a datson 280z is basicaly a japanese muscle car. A nissan 300z is also basicaly the same thing.
-
You could go for a stang or a 240/280z. But a camaro would be a great project too.
-
The 240sx.
-
You could get a earlier model Chevelle. Anything thats not a 69-71. But honestly man its all personal preference and if you want to get a Camaro, or a Mustang, Firebird, Trans-am, or whatever just go for it, youll find one. Good luck picking out a car!

Stop being a poor ass mother-blam!-er and get a bigger budget.
-
Camaro and Sunbird sound good. Any Mustang that's not a fox body is fun to get creative with.
-
Ever consider a Firebird Trans Am? .... ... .. . -Prince of Wolves
-
300zx twin turbo might be fun.
-
Dodge Charger?

A car

Early 70s Oldsmobile 442.

$6,000.00? Any 90's-early 2000's V8 pony car will fit this category. I think it's very likely that you can get one and drop some bolt ons, you'll be bit by the HP/torque bug.

Look for a nice monte carlo.

I have a 1970 Thunderbird ...with 429 ci V8 that has been in my family since new. I might sell that soon. I'll give you a good price.

Rx7 or rx8. They are fun cars. Get a manual. Automatic ones are crap.
