Official League of Legends discussion thread
Thought we could have one, since more members of MBT are starting to play. You know how these things work.
For those that don't know or are interested, league of legends is a free online game where you fight in arenas on teams, trying to destroy the enemy base. Its that RTS-styled field of view, but your champion has skills. Its not an RPG, its not an RTS. Its fun. leagueoflegends.com

First/second still determine circuit points, the trophy, and the general glory of winning an MLG event, which is a VERY big deal with things such as sponsorships. Frankly, splitting a prize isn't even something that is controllable. Once the money is given to the winners by MLG, there is no way for them to monitor who it is given to. And it isn't; their rules specifically mention matchfixing, but has nothing in it about the splitting of prizes. I just want to know if that was in fact what they did. It's one think to split prizes; it's a much bigger issue if DIG did decide to scoop to Curse and give them the win.

Honestly, I enjoyed seeing the ARAM. But, that's not the real competition I tuned in for. They had their fun, but that was careless.

Honestly, I have no issue with two parts of this, the ARAM and the splitting of the prize money. There is no rule within the guidelines of MLG that prohibit ARAM from being played. MLG hasn't come forward against it, but everyone knows that they have an issue with it. Whatever, it's an option for the teams and if they want to do it so be it. As for the prize money, I play Magic competitively. It's almost a given that in both Swiss and Top 8 that there will be prize splits. Part of the rules dictate that you CANNOT offer/bribe for a win, but you ARE able to split any monetary or other rewards between everyone if you so choose, without letting it decide the outcomes of a match. I don't think that should be an issue, and it is also something that isn't in MLG's rules, either. They specifically detail matchfixing, and that's it. Hopefully, it wasn't that the two teams decided to fix the finals. Dig is one of my favorite teams, and it would suck to see them involved in something as scummy as that. Guess we'll find out in the next couple days what the punishment will be from Curse/Odee for both teams.

MLG regrets to announce that we will not be awarding 1st or 2nd Place finishes for the Summer Championship League of Legends Event. We have determined that there was collusion between the two final teams, Curse NA and Team Dignitas. This is in clear violation of both the letter and spirit of MLG's Official Pro Circuit Conduct Rules: "competitors may not intentionally Forfeit a Game or conspire to manipulate Rankings or Brackets." As such, both teams have been disqualified, and no placements or prize money will be awarded. Riot has agreed with this decision and, in accordance with their Season 2 rules on Unsportsmanlike Conduct, will not be awarding Circuit points to either team. The 3rd and 4th Place teams will receive the prize money and Circuit Points they have earned, and all other results stand. No 1st or 2nd Place will be awarded for this event. They set it up!

Cause to be frank, that would get you -blam!- in ranked. I've played enough ranked to know that the bull-blam!- you can pull in normals won't fly there. You'll wind up at 800 ELO pretty quick that way, and it isn't fun to climb back to 1200 from anywhere in that area.
