Guardian tales : O'Brian Chapter II Reunion

The voice O’brian heard from behind him triggered thoughts that came rushing out of nowhere. This caused him to collapse. Everything around him in his vision became disoriented. He had blacked out. But what was this voice? Why did it have so much power? What secrets lie beyond this person? All these were questions that O’brian questioned as his conscience drifted through his mind aimlessly, looking for the answers needed to find who this person is. The blackout had lasted only for a couple of minutes to O’brian, but in reality he had been out for an hour in real time. O’brian found himself lying on the lap of the woman who he thought he had seen before. For the little time he had seen this woman ever since he had awoken from a coma, he remember her name. It was as if her name had been with him for a long time. After hearing her name, he could place her name with her face, and this caused a great feeling of relief for O’brian. As he awoke from his little blackout, O’brian found himself not only lying on his wife’s lap, but also staring into the eyes of this beautiful woman, Shion. “Have a good nap?” “uh- yea, I did…” it was not like he had anything to really dream about, except all he remembers is nothing. “You sure love to sleep. But because of your habit of sleeping, I get to see your beautiful sleeping face.” “The person behind me...who was it?” “Now, how about you reunite with your children, darling?” Shion said, changing the subject brought up by O’Brian. O’Brian quickly thought to himself and assumed it was nothing and went along with what she said. it wasn’t long before he had forgotten the voice that was behind him before he blacked out. O’brian got up from his previous lying position to an upright sitting position on the concrete bench. He looked over to his left and found three kids all looking to be no more than eighteen years of age. The kids were all aware of their father’s condition and knew what they had to do. The kids were all lined of from tallest to shortest, which also corresponded to their age. The height of the kids descended from right to left. O’brian then looked at his oldest child and began his questioning for his children. “So, what are your names?” The oldest one responded with disciplined formality and honorifics. He seemed nervous at first, because he did not know how to act around his father. “uh- I’m Ike! Ike Jaeger Hellscythe! I’m seventeen years old and I attend the Windcrest Warlock Academy.” Ike is 5”8’ with short straight hair that goes as far as his eye brows. His hair is a base black near the base of the hair stem, but near the tips of his hair, is colored a pale light-ish blue that is similar to that of O’Brian’s eye color. “eeeeh? Really now? Isn’t that academy really difficult to get into?” “uh- y-yes sir! Approximately one-hundred out of every one-thousand applicants gain entry into the academy.” “Wow, what a man you have grown into. Are you ready for the world of being a guardian? It’ll be tough out there in the wild.” O’brian was speaking to his son in such an encouraging tone that during conversation, he was gaining more of his hidden memory. “Yes sir! I’m ready to take on any enemies that pose a threat to the Traveler and to the last city here on earth!” Ike had much to say ask his father but did not get his chance. His father, instead, moved on to the middle child of the three. This one was not much younger than her brother. “And what about you?” The middle child answered with vigor and enthusiasm, now that she has the chance to speak with him again. “I am Sona and I am sixteen years old. I am currently attending the Dragon Hunter`s Academy, just like you and mother!” “Dragon Hunter`s academy?” he asked. “You mean to say that YOU got accepted in that hunter school? Well how about that! For a future hunter like yourself to get into that school is really amazing, it`s also run by the Dragon guild. I`m proud of you Sona, very much.” “I must say, you both have gone far in pursuing in becoming great guardians!” O’Brian’s memory recollected and he finds himself engaged much more with his talks with his children. Talking to them had caused the memories hidden within the depths of his conscience to unravel and cause O’brian to regain his memories of his family and is past. As soon as he regained his memories he began to make connections with his children, more than ever. He remembers the days they spent when their first born, Ike. Ike as a little kid was always so friendly to those around him. He had a touch of magic given to him by the traveler, which developed exponentially as he grew older. Those accepted into Windcrest Academy are students that show a greater promise in mastering the traveler’s arcane mysteries than most other guardians. Their uniform was a majestic purple and white, to show their prestige. Nova academy is no different either, in terms of prestige. Nova academy is a harsher training environment than that of Windcrest. The two academies rival each other because of the specified class that the school up brings. Windcrest is an academy that accepts those striving to become an FOTC warlock, and strive to make them the best. Nova academy is a hunter only profession school and is one of the harshest environments for a newcomer, aside from the Kroskr Titan academy, which is the number one harshest training environment for incoming titans. (Ratkroskr is pronounced: KRO-skeer) “So, Sona, why did you take up the Guardian position of hunter?” O’brian, intrigued by the choice his daughter had made. “I want to follow in my parents steps, of course!” Sona answered in a proud tone. It was enough to make any parent of new guardians cry. O’brian had no real need to cry from his daughter’s determination, but he was damn well proud of Sona, and Ike. O’brian then looked to his youngest daughter, who hid from O’brian behind her older sister. Even from behind her sister, he could see her long hair that flowed from the draft within the city. Her bright yellow-orange hair also gleamed from the little sun we had. It was a rich color that the yellow dominated the orange, and the orange is a tint that beautifully compliments her yellow hair. Her face was sharp and well defined for a nine year old. Her body too was well defined for a nine year old. Compared to her older siblings, she was not as defined as the other two but it was enough to show definition in her face and body. “Hey,” O’brian asked calmly, “what`s your name?” In a quiet voice, she began to say her name, “I- It`s S- Shinobu. W- Welcome back…dad.” She said her greetings in a low tone that was cute in itself and she was still clearly heard. I smiled to see that I was again reunited with my family and to see that they are safe. I also wondered what they did as a family when I was unconscious. I laid back further into my seat and slowly raised my head and found myself looking upon the traveler. I felt like as if i should make a prayer for being able to be here with my family and as i pondered in my thoughts, Shinobu asked a question that never would have crossed my mind at the moment. “Daddy, h-how did you and mommy meet?” I looked at her with a confused look. not sure how to really go about my answer. “Well sweetie, mommy and I went to the same school as your sister, Sona.” I looked up to both Sona and Ike so that they could see i was also paying attention to them, because I could also see that they were interested in our story. Shion came as sat next to me also wanting to listen to my version of our meeting. “Well, it was during our first year at Dragon academy, the first semester. I was walking past the courtyard when I heard talking around a secluded. It sounded to be more than three people so i decided to check it out. I was always so curious, and that was what let me to become a hunter. When i went to check it out i saw a young beauty surrounded by three guys trying to hit on the incoming first year. I saw that she looked uncomfortable and for a brief moment i saw that she looked at me so I chose to step in. “Hey! you guys! back off, cant you see she's uncomfortable with you guys being around her?” One of the three other students that seemed to be the leader stepped up. “Oh yea!? what are you going to do, first year?! there is three of us and only one of you, what can you do?” They approached me and i couldn’t hit them, so stopping them was dragged out more that what i had hoped for. The first one threw a punch, I moved to the side in order to catch his arm and throw him using his momentum. As I threw him, I knocked the other two down with him. I had no time to take the time to gaze upon the new first year, we had class to got to. We both went to our first class, which happened to be survival training with some opposing guardians simulating hostiles. I didn’t know what to do at first, but the girl I met before class was showing me what is best to do, showing me the ropes. I can say that I epically failed my first class though. Then during our second class together, I was at my seat pondering my thoughts of my failure from my last class. Suddenly a girl came up to me with shyness and joyfulness. She began conversation, which surprised me. “Hey~ I know this is only the first day in the academy buuuut, do you have a girlfriend?” That completely caught me off guard, but with not having a girlfriend, this was exciting.”u-uh, n-no I don’t. W-Why do you ask?” “Weeell~ I was wondering if you’d be my boyfriend.” “u-uh, sure. I’d love to. But i didn’t catch your name.” “It’s Shion Gasai (pronounced : Gah-sai)” “The name’s O’Brian Hellscythe. Nice to meet you.” “You too! So, are you, um, free this weekend?”{ “I have nothing planned, want to go out?” Shion’s face suddenly grew to a bright red and said in an excited response. “Yes! i’d love too!” continued below

Continued from above “Haha, Okay, I’ll meet you then at the Base of the Tower at four o’clock?” “Yea! I’ll be there!” she excitedly answered. Class was about to begin so we all took our seats for the indoor lesson of our second class. After the date, your mother and I grew close throughout our years in the academy. And when the time came for the students to pick their first Fire teams, we had already chosen each other. And that was when, kids, how your mother and I met.” The kids were in awe when I had finally finished my version of the story. “So that’s how you and mom met? Wow, I never knew you were the one that was asked by mom. Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around?” Ike decided to say after hearing the story for the first time. The storytelling was unexpected and unplanned. But it was to grant little Shinobu her story time. O’Brian would always tell Shinobu stories of him and his wife of their adventures and what scenery they saw apart of their missions. She was fascinated, having heard the story for the first time. It was getting dark so the Hellscythe family headed home for the day. On their way, they encountered the still bustling walkways of the bazaar. Lights of the buildings surrounding the bazaar and the family light up night and the city began to move even more. The lights were bright with many of the common colors, yellows, oranges, reds and blues. And the Traveler’s white shell reflected the lights shown from below and the colors mixed and overlaid each other from the city below it. Not much was said between the family as a whole, but the kids were talking among themselves, all what mostly seemed to be about school, shooting scores and sparring tactics. Shion held her right arm through O’Brian’s left arm and together the held each other as they walked. Just before the family had the chance to enter their home, they were stopped by a guardian in a dark cloak with a white colored band on his left arm, signaling that this guardian was a hunter. He was a pale blue color, a mix of blue and white, and his eyes were a dark blue-purple that shone in the night. His hair was black with streaks running randomly through his hair. “Sorry to intrude on your family’s Six week reunion, O’Brian, Shion, But you guys have a job…” Feedback and thoughts are appreciated!
