I'm quite curious to see how many people here use specialist headsets (eg. Turtle Beach, Tritton, Astro etc.) for gaming, and how many don't (or simply use a standard headset). By "specialist" I mean not the standard headset possibly packaged with your system. Couldn't think of any other word.
Some would argue the price isn't worth it, which is fair. I can't complain personally, I received mine as a gift and the sound quality is top notch. It can seriously enhance the experience. Also, what headset brand do you think is best and why?

I used the headset that came with my xbox until Christmas, when I got a pair of Turtle Beach's.
-
I'm debating if I should since super glue leaked onto my favorite xbox headset, but I don't know if I want to hear my game through a headset, too. Oh the dilemma...
-
I use the same headset I got with my Xbox 360 in 2007. Since then I've had five 360s consoles.
-
No, and anybody who does is silly.
-
I have a pair of Tritton headsets that I really like. They work for both 360 and ps3 as well as PC. Now though I really just use them because I can't get a godamn 360 mic that lasts more than a few months.

No. If the walls aren't shaking, it's too quiet. Headphones don't shake walls. They just don't

20 bucks for some turtle beaches. More durable then a regular headset considering how many I broke.
-
Standard headset for me. The only thing I need a headset for is for communication with friends.

Relevant.

I have Wireless Astro A50's and they are amazing so far. If I were to complain it would be that the mic sits a little farther from my mouth than id like.
-
I've used Turtle Beach headsets for a few years now. Not the best gaming headsets, but they are fine for me. I will probably get something better at some point.
-
I don't have one for the simple reason that I can't be bother paying the price of a game for a headset that I will use twice a month ;)
-
I got the x11's about 2-3 years ago now. In that time I would have went through several of the xbox mics well worth it.
-
I have surround sound speakers, screw headsets.
-
I have the Halo 4 Trittons. The sound is amazing and games are so much more immersive through headphones. There are little sounds in games that I didn't even know existed until I got my Trittons. I can't ever imagine going back.
-
Turtle Beach X12's, a very good investment.
-
I have Earforce x12's. Best 60 dollars I've ever spent. I'm surprised some people still just use that sketchy xbox headset that comes with your console, if you game frequently it's totally worth spending a little bit for a pair of headsets.
-
I got a pair of turtle beach x12s from my friend for my bday. I like using them.
-
Nope I hate headsets, but for mics I just use the standard xbox one
-
I have a pair of Turtle Beach X11 with the digital surround sound processor that I use with my Xbox. Sound quality is great, mic is good if a little too sensitive, and they're pretty comfortable. That being said, I never really wanted them in the first place, but my stepmom forced me to buy a pair because she was sick of hearing my games.
-
Well I use headphones, then I broke off the mic of the standard, then I used a wristband to hold it on the right ear.

Edited by Bernard: 4/18/2013 11:46:49 PMUse a DX12. Quality as good as high end headsets for less than half the price.
-
Astro A50 master race right here. And they are worth it. I can enjoy massive volumes for everything including music and movies without shaking the house to pieces with my massive tower speakers.
-
Yup I use Turtle Beach...specifically the X12 model.
-
Turtle Beach headsets are nice.

I have Astro's and I love them. Not only are they comfortable but the quality is amazing.
