Does the best gaming ecosystem belong to Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo?

Currently, Microsoft. Followed by Nintendo then Sony. But that could all easily change in the next generation of consoles. I'm predicting Sony will come out on top.

I hate to say it... but probably none of the above. I think Apple has the best ecosystem. Tons of games on the App Store. When you talk about the gaming world, don't forget the huge number of people playing on their smartphones and tablets.

MS basically defined console online gaming as we know it. That's not easy to beat.

Hmm. Well Microsoft has been the best for my current lifestyle, but back in the day it was all about LANs, and I think Nintendo managed that best with the amazing 4 player games and GBA lineup they had. I still have fond memories of link cable trading Pokémans in the park.

Each major player fit a tight niche in this current, almost over generation. 1. Microsoft dominated the online gaming community between Xbox LIVE and PC gaming, without question, and therefore would win this poll without a doubt. 2. Wii locked down the family/casual party genre, and the sales of the Wii compared to the other consoles prove they had the largest spread of demographics. 3. Sony pushed the limit on graphics and other hardware for epic singleplayer games, but failed to make headway against XBL with their PSN. This coming generation, everyone's looking to renew their appeal to the hardcore gamer while keeping the down open for social and casual gamers. Nintendo and Sony have both pursued that strategy and Microsoft's in line to do the same thing. Nintendo failed, since they didn't make the WiiU appealing to the same people who backed them for the Wii. It goes without saying that Sony and Microsoft will have the ultimate competition, perhaps the biggest and most significant console war yet, this holiday season. Sony looks properly geared for the fight. We'll see how Microsoft responds in only a few weeks, but with Sony revealing first and Microsoft waiting two months to respond to me tips the advantage M$ in terms of making sure their console can do as much or more and more importantly better than the PS4.

Microsoft because Windows, Xbox is really crappy though.

Microsoft because of the PC.

Edited by TGI Skuldier: 4/30/2013 10:29:48 PMI was going to say Nintendo, but they mined all of their Nintendium which was a primary food source for their ecosystem. Although they did deliver another Luigi's Mansion...

Edited by TrustySnooze: 5/1/2013 9:54:08 PMConsidering I have a Xbox, Windows 8 laptop, and a Windows Phone, I have to go with Microsoft. Although they could improve it quite a bit.
I was going to say Nintendo, but they mined all of their Nintendium which was a primary food source for their ecosystem.
I use to really like Nintendo's portable gaming, although after a while I got board of what seemed to be the same games over again. It's been a while though, maybe they have some cool, new unique titles. I can't really speak for the Sony side though, I only have a PS Vita.

I'm going to say Microsoft. They have the edge I'd say.
