Being a PVP Pro: Sensitivity Issues

As someone who always plays on high sensitivity, playing default or other low sensitivities always feels like I'm playing in a vat of oil or molasses or something. But that aside, low versus high sensitivity is an argument that has merits on both sides. At the highest level of competitive play, it really does depend somewhat on your playstyle and has a fairly significant impact on various parts of gameplay - lower sensitivities give much more precise and fluid control over your aim in precision situations and lend themselves better to sniping and longer-range engagements as OP mentioned in his video. Higher sensitivities eschew rapid long-range target acquisition in favor of a much more potent ability to turn and locate targets in tighter quarters or games where threats may appear from any direction rather than almost always in front of you. And, of course, higher sensitivities are "harder" to use - they require much more precise mechanical skills in order to reliably have the same accuracy as a lower sensitivity. But for Destiny, I think there are a few things that are very important to note: As some others have mentioned, max sensitivity on Destiny is not nearly as sensitive as most shooters. It's not even close to as sensitive as max on a CoD or Counterstrike game is, and in fact isn't even as sensitive as any of the Halos (which are obviously a much more similar type of game, made by more-or-less the same developers). Destiny's hitboxes are much more forgiving than a game like CoD or CS, especially concerning things like long-range headshots with snipers and other precision weapons. In Destiny, like in Halo, the bullets are fairly "wide," as are the player hitboxes. Whereas in a game like CoD, the bullets are nearly point-sized and the player hitboxes are very tight to the body. Outside of First Light and Skyshock, Destiny's maps are pretty universally geared towards closer-ranged encounters. There are almost always one or two long sight lines, but the majority of the engagement areas are medium-ranged or smaller. This makes long-ranged precision less in-demand, while the ability to rapidly target any given position in a wide field of view is more important. Like the Halos, Destiny's PvP is importantly defined by two things (among others, but these are two of the most important aspects): threats can present themselves from nearly any angle at almost any time, and you are given time to react to unseen threats. Someone can get a drop on you from behind, above, below, or the side, or even pop up in front of you virtually undetected. However, you also have enough durability to turn almost any of these situations around with good enough execution (except when they have a shotgun). This means that PvP in this game inherently rewards the ability to turn and/or find a new target rapidly. Playing on max sensitivity, turning to shoot someone that comes up behind you is close to instant, meaning your enemy will probably only get one shot/one burst/a few automatic-fire bullets on you before you have the chance to fight back. Playing on the default sensitivity more than doubles the time it takes to turn around, meaning your enemy will probably have more than half of your health gone by the time you can fight back. At a more casual level of competitive play (and certainly in solo play), the above points tip the scale heavily in favor of higher sensitivities, at least in Destiny. But like OP said in the video, don't just jump right into max sensitivity. If you've always played on the lower end, work up gradually or you'll just be noticeably worse for no reason. TL;DR - Unless you're playing at a highly competitive level and find a lower sensitivity better fits your playstyle, Destiny heavily favors using a higher sensitivity. That doesn't necessarily mean to increase it to max instantly (or even at all), but it would benefit those playing on the lower end to try and gradually increase their sensitivity.
