The Beginning

All opinions are welcome other than pointless bashing but i look forward to your feed back Prologue: Soul Searching He could smell the stench even through his helmets filters, by the travelers light how he hated his father right now. Thomas, his father’s namesake and pride, is to take his father’s place as a titan in the forward wilds of Venus, “Yea like that’s gonna happen” his young voice as steady as any warriors, but Thomas desired to be a hunter, prowling the wilds and conquering the blackness of space. As for now though he doubted he’d ever see space if the swamp he was dumped in didn’t choke him with its stench the Vex encampment not two miles away would, thanks dad. Thomas made his way closer to the encampment careful to hide his tracks thinking to himself, “if I’m gonna die might as well make it interesting”. He was about 700 meters from nowhere when it happened. The pain shooting through his side, the way all the jungles sounds muted, but the worst was clicking sounds of the Vex he hadn’t noticed. Its blood red “eye” drilling a hole in his soul as he fell into a tree. He had to escape, the thought as so shocking to him he couldn’t move for a few heartbeats, but he knew he couldn’t kill a Vex not injured as he was now. He’d laugh at himself if the thought of his father in his dark green armor didn’t make him feel so pitiful, but he knew escape was all he could do. His body going numb from the attack Thomas stumbled on knowing he wouldn’t lose the Vex, but still he moved, he ran until he couldn’t any more. Trying to find his way out of this traveler forsaken jungle. His breath heavy and muscles beyond tired he slide himself to the ground. “what a way to go” his once steady voice was now shaky and rough from hard breathing and adrenaline, he brought his rifle up to prepare to join the others who could “graduate” his father’s training. Stepping out slowly from the foliage the Vex made his way to the human he’d been hunting, easy prey humans always were. He had fired once at the distracted beast to make the end more enjoyable, creatures fighting for their lives always fight harder, but the pitiable creature ran using the last of its life to flee. Shrieking in rage born of frustration at his own ineptitude that lead to his confinement here, the battered Vex stripped the human of all its useful equipment when the world turned upside down on itself. “A trap” the thought rang in his head for only a second as a cloaked figure stepped into his field of view and the deadly blade shining with death slide into his eye with little resistance. The hunter looked at the boy slumped at the base of the tree he had been resting in. Tears gathered in his mind, tears he hadn’t shed in years, at all the youth lost trying to be what he had become, alone, isolated, death. He had been asking the traveler for a sign and here he got one, a damnable one, but very clear. Young or old, Vex or Fallen his kind was needed. Those who do not live among the people of the city, those whose very lives are rented with death, they were needed to venture to and retake the dark places. Looking toward the traveler a sinister smile spread across his face, “Death it is then, let the hunt begin”. It was a declaration to the traveler, to the world and to himself. Azreal’s search was over and he was anxious to begin what again what he was once condemned for. Taking a step away the hunter vanished as if he was never there a ghost in the wind, as dust in a dessert.
