Streamer house. Kinda cool

Community Focus - StreamerHouse Oct 14 2014 Created by DeeJ This is the story (“True Story!”) about a bunch of gamers picked to live in a house and have their lives streamed to find out what happens when our enemies stop being polite and start getting real. You know who is playing Destiny right now? Streamer House. You know how we know? They play 24 hours a day. If you don’t believe us,check out their channel. If their promise is being kept, Guardians are on the hunt (or maybe striding the Tower in search of their next upgrade). Sound crazy? Let’s see how they hold up in a random psych evaluation. Who are you? What are you all about? SH:  We are StreamerHouse! Simply put, we’re a group of gamers (Tree, Inigo, LSDJesus, Rober) who made the crazy decision over a year ago to move into a house full of cameras and play video games for a living. With a ton of help from our Twitch community, family, and friends (like Randy Borden at LKLDTV), we built this small idea into the global community that you see today. Check our YouTube channel for the full, hour long story on how the project began if you want all the details. Do you really play 24 Hours a day? How do you stay sane? Or even awake? SH:  Sane is a relative term, right? We stream in eight hour shifts, seven days a week. That’s a lot of hours to fill. You can play any game you want during that time. Why so much Destiny? SH:  Our interest in Destiny began last year when we started looking at all the new games slated for the next gen consoles. Much of our combined gaming experience comes from loot based hack/slash dungeon crawlers, MMO’s, and first person shooters on the PC. Destiny looked to be an awesome hybrid of these ideas, which is really unique in the current generation of console games. Once we saw the amazing community out there looking to share this experience with us, it was really easy to keep playing and playing and playing for over a month straight! That’s a lot of decrypted engrams. Now that you’re connoisseurs of the Guardian lifestyle, what’s your favorite activity in Destiny? SH:  Thankfully, Destiny is a diverse enough game that we can all favor different content. Rober finds himself back in the Crucible every day, thoroughly enjoying the satisfaction of wiping the floor with his human opponents! Inigo is a Raider through and through, making sure to run the Vault of Glass with his tight-knit group nearly every single day. He certainly knows his way around the place, but still gets that rush on every clear and is still hunting for undiscovered secrets. Jesus is a Nightfall machine - a huge fan of the burn damage modifiers and the constant challenge that this hardcore mode brings to the table. It’s certainly the most heart-pounding way to play. It’s awesome that you’re running the whole gauntlet. How about your viewers? How have they responded to your adventures? SH:  We’ve been very fortunate with the opportunity to play Destiny with thousands of our viewers. At this point, the response has been overwhelmingly positive! Destiny Rocks! The console FPS crowd can be a tough audience to please on Twitch, but the community growing behind Destiny has really been amazing! We couldn’t agree more. Guys like you are a huge part of that. Since you travel the hardcore pathways we’ve built in the wild, what would you recommend to anyone who is stuck in their progression to become legend? SH:  The simple answer is, “Play more.” It really does depend on your goal within the game. If your main focus is to reach light Level 30, you simply can’t do it without Raid gear. This means you need to be completing the Vault of Glass every week and saving your ascendant materials to upgrade said Raid gear. Completing your Daily missions and Bounties are extremely important to leveling up your gear and weapons once you’ve reached Level 20, especially with the recent buffs. Public events are also a quick and efficient means for farming ascendant materials and there are great community-created resources out there for tracking them. You’ve become experts. No question about that. What can we do to make Destiny better for you guys? SH:  Since we play more than your average gamer, content is always what gets repetitive first. Destiny really has a lot going on already. It really only needs more rewarding ways to play what we already have. Re-running story mode missions doesn’t feel rewarding and Strikes need increasingly difficult options for the higher-leveled tier of players. Voice communication has been brought up previously and Bungie has stated that we’ve been heard, but it’s always worth emphasizing how much of an asset that can be in a game like Destiny. Hiding the story behind Grimoire cards has really seemed to leave a large portion of players in the dark. While the idea of using an app with your game is cool, it shouldn’t be a requirement to understand what’s going on in the game world.  Finally, additional character customization, increased Vault space and a transmog system would be three awesome quality-of-life changes for those who put as much time into the game as we have. That’s a healthy wish list. These are all things we talk about in our meetings about how to keep Destiny awesome over the longer-term. Keep an eye on us. There’s no telling what the future may hold. Any parting words? SH:  I just want to give a big thanks to the entire team at Bungie for starting what will undoubtedly grow into an epic adventure over these next years. We are looking forward to the ride! We’re looking forward to having you along,StreamerHouse. In the meantime, we thank you for playing and sharing your exploits with the watching world. If you’re reading this article, you might be away from your controller. When the game is out of reach, you’re always welcome to look in on the house that these gamers built.
