It has yet to work for me, but I know GTA Online is going to be huge once the kinks are worked out, so I figured I would go ahead and create a post so we can get some events going, form crews, etc. Surprisingly, almost none of my IRL friends or family members are interested in GTA V, so I don't have a pre-existing group to run heists and stuff with in GTA Online. I was thinking of forming an MSXL crew, or something similar for folks to join on here. Any thoughts? Also, it's been a while since we've had an MSXL online event that people actually show up for, but if there are enough members here we could probably get some fun chaos going.
EDIT: Ok, I finally got it working. In order to get the first racing mission to start, I had to delete and redownload the title update, then delete my original online character to meet a new one. Even then, I had to dashboard and restart the game once before it worked, but it did! Here are some of my thoughts from around 2 hours of playing:
- It is extremely difficult to make an attractive female character. I don't know what Rockstar was thinking on this one. My wife and I spent 30 minutes and finally managed to create a character that didn't look like her face had been beaten in. Of course, most of the male characters looked fine. I don't see how this made it past alpha.
- You have to level up before you can do the good stuff, like heists. This is pretty lame, but I guess it forces you to do other activities before diving in.
- The races are fun as hell, with a wide variety of types. My favorite from last night had one group starting on dirt bikes, and another in fighter jets. The jets are supposed to kill the people on motorcycles. It was hilarious because more than once I observed a jet fly over head and crash into a building while trying to shoot missiles at me. So awesome.
- Deathmatch is pretty retarded. I don't know why this was even included when the game has such heavy auto-aim. The spawning system is a joke, with people literally spawning directly behind you and killing you. However, the streets are still populated so it's possible to get into a car and run people over, which is neat.
- As with GTA IV, the open world stuff is a lot of fun, and there are little events scattered all over the place. It's especially cool that you're in the same world as the single player game, so you can remember where stuff is from that.
Definitely looking forward to getting a crew going and playing with folks. I've seen DMG online, and Halo53 plays as well, Anyone else?

With all the crap surrounding the Xbox One (hope you guys have heard today's news, etc), GTA Online even existing is a MASSIVE blessing. Seriously, the best multiplayer game I've ever played. It's not even a case of liking it, I'm full blown head-over-heels in love with it.

I haven't touched online yet either, I'll be hopping on this weekend. I'm almost the opposite of you where I know more people offline that are going to be playing this game than I do online. I'll be running around doing heists and stuff so if you see me on, hit me up.
