Uh, he assaulted his captors. Generally when you assault someone, you're subdued. Gotta love Brits trying to turn everything into anti-American propaganda. Jealously, perhaps? Also, having a mental disorder doesn't make breaking the law okay.

I figured that number to be higher tbh. It's sad though.

You're right, it's not surprising because shit like this happens all over the world. Anyways, back to America, in my opinion, stuff like this is why our asylums need to be reopened.

Well that sucks to hear. It does suck that having a mental disorder is basically criminalized. It also doesn't help the situation that you're putting mentally ill people - who require a great deal if patience to deal with - in the same facility run by people who basically have to use force. It's like using the wrong tools for the wrong problem. If police need to use force against actual criminals, then so be it. But when the guards have to deal with people that they're probably not well equipped to handle, tensions are going to get high for both parties and problems (as we've seen) will occur.
He kept pulling the bandages off his wounds and demanding medication, so staff moved him - saying later it was to get him treatment. They put him in a restraint chair, strapping down his arms, legs and head. He then spat at an officer.
Fuck what?, they pretty much water boarded the guy because he spat at them. They maybe a criminal but if they have a disorder you can at least listen to them, and I know they maybe doing that shit to get easy drugs. But that shits just torture
