Destiny Fan-Fic: Guardian Rising

Author's Note: This is written in a new style, give me as much feedback as possible. I also did not edit, because I'm lazy. -Peeps He awoke with a start. “Guardian… Eyes up Guardian,” blurted an unknown voice from close by. He responded with a tired sounding “What…?” “I’m just kidding man! Hurry and get up, you’re going to miss breakfast!”, his brother; Markov, announced. Alexi Danielson groggily lifted himself out of bed, took a shower, and got dressed. On the way to the kitchen, he paused to look out the window. He saw a glorious sunset peaking just over the top of the Traveler. Alexi reminisced about his grandfather telling him stories passed down throughout his family throughout the generations about the events of the Golden Age, and the Collapse. Alexi suspected that the truth about the stories had faded over the centuries, but had enjoyed hearing them up until his grandfather’s passing. He joined his mother and brother for breakfast, and his nose caught the beautiful aroma of porridge cooling. His father had not joined the table for over six years now. Alexi’s father; Julius who is a Guardian, specifically a Warlock, has been either fighting to retake the Light’s land, or studying the Light in the Tower. While Alexi loves his father dearly, his belief in the Light’s cause has wavered over the past year. Alexi sat to eat, and had just settled down when a deep rumbling shook the room. Boom Boom Boom “What was that?” Alexi inquired. “Probably nothing, maybe an earthquake,” replied Alexi’s mother, Lauren. Earthquake’s were common in the City, which rested on two shifting tectonic plates. BOOM BOOM BOOM “I don’t think thats an earthquake Mom…,” croaked Markov. Alexi, being the oldest male present in the family, went into the street to investigate. What he saw shocked him. The Fallen were in the City. Alexi darted back into the house and warned his family. He ushered his mother and brother to a bunker across the street, and returned in search of weaponry. First, he went to his kitchen to collect several of the larger knives. Next, he went into his room, where he found nothing, but caught a glimpse of a poster that hung above his bed. “The Traveler Wants You!”, he read to himself, “Propaganda…”. Finally, he went to his fathers chambers, where he had studied before living in the Tower. It was the first time he had ever entered the large chamber. Shelves full of books lined the wall. He saw a large chest in front of him, and decided to open it. Inside, he found a single hand gun. Armed with only with kitchen knives, and a small gun, he ran outside into the streets to face the Fallen. He was not alone; other men were in the street fighting against the invading armada, with little avail. “This is not a fight we are going to win,” said one of the men. “It’s not about winning! It’s about sending some of these bastards back to the Hell they came from!”, shouted another. Alexi drew his firearm to eliminate an approaching Dreg, but before he could pull the trigger a single shot rang out from behind him. A male Hunter dusted of his cloak and holstered his pistol. “It is not safe here, you all must get to safety,” he declared. The men scattered at his command, entering the closest bunker; all but Alexi. “Are you deaf child?”, the Hunter looked at him with his eyes in disbelief. “I want to protect my home sir,” Alexi asserted. The Hunter paused for several seconds with eyes full of thought, and then asked “What is your name boy?”. “Alexi Danielson,” he replied. “Danielson… son of Julius Danielson?” “Yes”. “Come with me,” the Hunter said. Alexi sensed that he wasn't going to take no for an answer. As the unnamed Hunter led him through the burning City, Alexi caught glimpses of a crumbling Wall, and Fall Walkers laying wreck to the City’s inhabitants. After some time, they arrived at the base of the Tower. After the Hunter gained reentrance to the elevated fortress, he led Alexi to an elevator, and after a short trip up, they both reached the Tower Courtyard. The Gunsmith was rapidly dispersing firearms amongst the milling Guardians who were preparing for all-out war. The Hunter and Alexi pushed through the sea of Guardians, and eventually arrived at a small elevated chamber overlooking the City. Inside the chamber, sat two Guardians, and the Speaker. The Hunter and Alexi entered the room, and in unison they all turned to look at the two intruders. “Andre, you return with good news I hope,” chimed the Speaker. “Sadly no, the City has been near overtaken by Fallen,” solemnly said Andre, the Hunter. “However… I brought this brave child. I found him fighting the Fallen with only dull knives, and a small firearm”. “You have a name child?”, asked the Warlock in blue robes. “Alexi Danielson,” he replied. “Alexi… Danielson,” the Warlock pondered. He looked wistfully at Alexi’s face for some time, then spoke. “My son,” he said, and pulled Alexi into his warm embrace. “…Father?”, Alexi cautiously whispered. “My brave son! Fighting the Fallen alone! Your mother and brother, are they safe?” “Yes, father”. The female Titan was silent for much of the time, then she abruptly interrupted. “Now then boy, you want to fight, is this true?”, she questioned. “Yes, ma’am. I wish to fight against the invading Fallen army. “Well then, lets get you equipped with some weaponry. No use standing here”, “Of course, only if it’s okay with you, Julius, he is your son of course,”. “I am fine with it. I will accompany him to ensure his safety. After a short trip to the Gunsmith to choose a firearm, Alexi and his father, Julius set out into the City to fight to Fallen’s forces. Alexi was eager to try out his shiny new pistol on some Fallen, and quickly proved to be an able shot when battle suddenly erupted around the father-son duo. “You would make a fine Guardian, son”, proudly said Julius. Alexi could not answer, for he was too busy eliminating the advancing foes. Then through the rattling gunfire, Alexi heard something else; something bigger advancing; a Fallen Walker. Before he could react, the Walker fired a single cannon-shot. Julius reacted quickly; diving to cover. Alexi was not. “Alexi! Run!”, yelled his father. He turned to flee, but it was too late. He turned and saw the shot rapidly approaching. Then… there was nothing but Darkness. — — — — — — — — — — — — — “Guardian… Eyes up Guardian,” blurted a metallic sounding voice from close by.
