The Hive and the Worms

Here's an excerpt from Ghost Fragment: Hive 2 (located Enemies>Hive)
Their strength is not their own. They draw from another force, something that corrupts, that distorts, that eats and will not be satisfied.
This seems to suggest the Hive are puppets, not of their own and a withered form of what they once were. We know with the release of the House of Wolves that there is a Cult of a Worm and Wizards specially assigned the duty of being the Worm Keepers. I once theorized that this may be a simply a name and that the bones within the Hive fortress (located in The Wakening mission on the moon) could not be that of worms (although I still argue that may still be the case). Daniel Chavez made some early concept art of the Hive which illustrated that they were infected by a giant worm that drained their life-force, you can also see in the current iterations of the Hive that they are withered and have been withered to nothing but bones covered in cold, dry, hard flesh that appears would tear away like dead bark.
http://www.videogamesartwork.com/games/destiny/hive-character-concepts-8
The grimoire card, Disciples of Crota (located Activities>The Dark Below)
... Omnigul, his vile Will, the keeper of the worms, the mother of his spawn.
Heres another excerpt from the grimoire card; Ghost Fragment: Hive 2:
They took me down into the dark, past tiers of massed Hive, more than we believed could exist. Past grisly nurseries hung with pupae. Past writhing worms that they swallow whole. I saw the armaments of war.
You can see this for yourself, in the Hive fortress, taking the entrance closest to where you spawn from orbit you will notice large sacks on the walls (partially glowing white), with something inside of them (worms). Description of the Moon patrol mission "Collect Symbiotes":
Peel Scalpel Leeches from the flesh of dead Hive Knights so their enzymes can be extracted (note, while leeches and worms are not the same thing it enforces the idea they have symbiotic beings (or organisms) in their bodies.
An excerpt from the Wizard grimoire card
The Wizard is the scalpel with which the Hive vivisect the universe
The description of the Bonebreaker Bounty (located with Eris Morn).
Let the breeders know who ended them. Let them see you smile. - Eris
This implies the Wizards are the breeders of the worms and and places of the scalpel leeches. However a scalpel is a medical tool, so why would the Wizards be described with that unless they are trying to cure themselves of the worms? An excerpt from the grimoire card, Ghost Fragment: Warlock 2 (located Guardian>Classes)
/Eriana. It responds to pain. It responds to the Light. Hurt it again. ... /Should I burn it again? No. I think you're only feeding it. I will touch it's mind. Ghost - help.
Another excerpt from Ghost Fragment: Hive 2 (located Enemies>Hive)
They will learn little from me - but I am studying them, I know - pain. Always pain
What this implies is that the Hive (more specifically the worms) consume the light. They respond to pain and pain is all they feel. As seen above, Eriana's ghost believes it responds to pain, to which she replies "It responds to the Light" and when they later speak, her Ghost asks if it should burn the Wizard (introducing pain and light) to which the Eriana believes is feeding it. Lets also acknowledge the similarities between Thrall and Ogre's. Notice how similar they are in appearance, their shape, colour and form. It is said that Ogre's undergo "terrible transformations as thy grow" (Thrall to Ogre?). We can also notice the glowing 'lumps' on an Ogre's head, this could represent more worms, possibly what caused the Thrall to grow into Ogre's (also the glowing packs on the more powerful Ogre's under-belly). But even with all of this how and why would be Hive appearance be so withered and skeletal with skin made of dead bark (metaphor incase you didn't notice). What if the Hive don't simply die? What if they must be killed, an end to their song; their pain (Deathsinger reference). An excerpt from the grimoire card Ir Yüt, Deathsinger
Perhaps they know a way to make themselves part of the song, part of something vast and burning that rots and peels into ash but never ever ends. Perhaps She has engineered this for Him, and pinned His power up against the quiddity of death itself.
Alone that's not much, but pair it with the description for Word of Crota
There was life, and He spoke unto it; and it was silent, and lived no more.
What if these Crota can end the suffering of the Hive? End the pain they always feel? Free them from this pain? Maybe that could be why he is worshipped as a god (although Oryx looks like a giant cosmic-moth). What if the Hive just want to be cured of this pain, of the worms? An excerpt from the grimoire card Ascendant Sword (located Activities>Raids)
A Shredder or a Boomer is a powerful weapon, but it kills acyclically. You see? It sends out harm and it takes nothing back. The bolt passes away into nothing. A sword, though, a sword is like a bridge, a crossing-point. The sword binds wielder to victim. It binds life to death. And when the binding is done - the sword remembers. When the Boomer's fire has burnt away into axion and neutrino scatter, the sword goes on, hungrier and sharper.
This could represent the worms that the Hive are host to. "Hungrier and sharper" could be a reference to "eats but will not be satisfied". But how would Eris (all Ghost Fragments of the Hive are from her ghost) have survived for so long among the Hive? She added a worm. Lets look at the description for the class item Emerald Light
"They'll believe you are one of their own. And that is the only way." - Toland, the Shattered
Eris' eye have the distinctive 'emerald light' eyes from the Hive. Perhaps she had to consume a worm to survive, and that is why she changed. Perhaps it is also why she can 'feel' the presence of Crota's disciples on Earth.
They are all here, on Earth, I can feel them.
