The Moon

We came to the Moon with hope, bravery, and a thirst to reclaim or lost history and territory. However, we were not ready for what we found. You will not have heard of me, but I lead the crusade to reclaim luna. Many great Guardians fell. I came very close to being one. Let me tell you about myself. My name; Hawk. I am a Hunter from Earth. I was the first to venture into the deteriorating Cosmodrome, and single-handedly weakened the House of Devil's hold on the decrepit interstellar aeroport. I cannot take all of the credit; my pistol did most of the work, I just aimed and pulled the trigger. At the time, I was the most powerful Guardian in the system, famous for my victories amongst the Fallen. When the Speaker began to gather Guardians to take back the Moon from the Hive; he personally me to be the leader, a great honor. I distinctly remember seeing the faces of Toland before leaving for the last time. He was an aspiring young Warlock, and Osiris; his mentor was a great friend of mine. I said no goodbyes, it felt unnecessary. So much has changed since then. I entered the Moon's orbit seconds after leaving the Tower, and joined the amassing army of Guardians on its surface. I thought I was invincible. It would be my bravado; my honor; that would be my downfall. I don't remember much of our preparation for war, as nothing could have prepared us for what we would encounter. I led a group of Hunter's along a jagged rocky, outcropping of a cliff. Below us, there was an immense metal door, covered in writing of some sort. Definitely not made by humanity. Definitely not made by Fallen. We radioed our position to the rest of the Guardians. We waited for the full army of Light to arrive before striking. We used the combined power of our Warlocks to force the door open with void artillery and flame. A sea of Thrall erupted upon us. With the use of several hundred shoulder mounted rocket launchers, they were dispatched. Then came the Ogres; hatred fueled beasts. After murdering countless Guardians, they too were slayed. Then, came Hell itself. A behemoth of a Knight. Encompassed by green flames of Dark, He and his personal army devoured my comrades. In the end, I was the only left standing. I was alone. It stared at me for some time, seemingly smiling. I stared right back. Then It turned and left. Fueled by rage, I followed. It came to a stop in a chamber light with green flame. It saw me, a laughed; a low guttural laugh. Enraged at his flippant dismissal of me, I summoned the power of the Light, and released it upon the monster. My Light injured the creature. Seemingly surprised at my powerful release of fury and energy, It swiftly swung its sword at. I narrowly escaped being beheaded, diving away. However, the Dark weapon grazed my shoulder, and the cut began to bleed light. The beast collapsed into a heap, scared by my Light, allowing me to escape. I now reside in the shadows of the Hellmouth. My pistol is long lost to the Moon's surface. If someone finds this, do not send help, just tell others of my downfall.
