Heavy Slot

I'm wondering what kinds of weapons we'll see here. I know that there will be LMGs and Rocket Launchers, but do you think there will be anything else? I think that Sniper Rifles used to be there but they moved it

    So each class can use every gun? Edit: wouldnt mind a grenade launcher or something that plants mines

        • Not very happy about sniper rifles no longer being heavy. If they are anywhere near as OP as they are in most games, they need to be heavy, rare ammo and all. Kinda silly to me that pistols and sniper rifles now share the secondary slot. Heck shotguns have their own OP factor too when you're close to ppl. I guess my gripe is, how will pistols (which I want to use) compete with things like shotguns and sniper rifles =\ On topic though, I think rocket launchers and LMGs cover it (maybe grenade launchers?)

            I'm hoping for more futuristic weapons than that. Plasma cannons Gauss Rifles Sonic Disruptors EDIT: Ooops Forgot Laser Rifle Bullets are so old fashioned.

            • Only Heavy Machine Guns and Rocket Launchers. Sniper Rifles were moved to the special slot, kicking the handcannon into the primary slot.

                This is just an idea, but I don't think they will stray from the main weapon types (LMG, Rocket Launcher, Mini-Gun?), though they may give us the option to receive opponents guns (like if you go through a stronghold). With this is mind, I doubt they'd make an alien gun shoot bullets. That'd be boring. The weapons may be based off of models from common weapon types and just shoot projectiles other than bullets or have some awesome animation while doing it. I hope Gjallahorn, an exotic rocket launcher, does something completely awesome, not just shoot a single rocket. Bungie said exotic weapons would stand apart from the others, so I don't want a rocket launcher with a cool name if it only shoots one normal rocket. But if I really wanted a heavy weapon, it would definitely be a mini-gun.

                • Just to clarify none of changes that the devs are toying with are final yet and there is no reason to agree or disagree with those changes at least until the beta. Anyways I'm not sure if there will be different gun types from the ones we've already heard of but I think that there will be enough weapons in the game to expand on the definitions of those types and what they can do. Plus don't forget that weapons will also have skill trees.

                    Snipers and Shotguns are now secondaries/specials, we may see RPG's, HMG's and LMG's, maybe heavy fusion rifles, and I think I saw a Titan with a grenade launcher in one of the newer pics.

                  • Thy never moved the sniper rifles.... Oh I wanna see some Burst rifles which is the red death my favorite exotic. I also would love to see Super Good Advice gonna love that gun.

                      • Snipers I believe were moved to the secondary slot. The way it looks now isn't too bad though imo. With hand cannons and rifles in primary; shotguns snipers and smg's in secondary, and lmg/rocket launcher in the heavy slot it provides quite a bit of balance between the builds while still allowing the versatility to go either fully auto, or single shot with each weapon slot. Wanna go full auto ? ar/smg/lmg setup should do you nicely, want that super punch? hand cannon, shotty and rockets 5 days. Want that overall feeling of awesomeness ? ar/shotty/anything. If this is indeed the way the system works I don't think I'd be too dissapointed, it will help not only keep the gameplay fresh with each new weapon aquisition but also allow for competative multiplayer to be balanced in a way that while certaint elements have been used we've never seen anything of this depth.
