I felt the bullet brush past cheek. Quickly I threw back on my Knight Type 6 helm and grabbed my hand cannon. The Regulator 5.5, sharp, quick, and deadly. I looked up to the top of the cliffs and saw a Vandal, House of Kings, vanish with his wire rifle... "His" I use that word loosely.
I summoned my sparrow, black and grey, I like matching the night, and took off to track the little scourge down.
"Grohiik, do you find it wise to attempt and track a Vandal?" Vent, my ghost, asked.
"You're right. Better call for backup. Contact Connor and Shawla."
"That wasn't what I meant, Grohiik..."
"Can't hear you, it's to silent out here."
"You make my processor hurt."
I stopped near an abandoned Old Russian plane. The only light was from the moon. It glared down upon my black, silver armor. The only light I needed.
"I was unable to establish a connection to them."
"What about Dan?"
"Nothing..."
I crutched my hand cannon. Slowly I raised it to see the face of two hungry children.
"What the hell...?"
My curiosity was abruptly ruined by the shock feeling and the seer terror of a stinging in my shoulder.
I turned to find the Vandal I had been tracking standing twenty yards from me.
Quickly I dodged the next shot, sprinting and shoulder charging the demon into oblivion, I let out a single bullet into it's head.
"Vent, send word to Commander Zavala. Tell him to send for these children."
"On it."
"What are you doing here? How did you get beyond the walls?" I asked the two.
"That... That thing grabbed us off the streets." The eldest one said, no older than ten.
"Strange, how did a Fallen get past the walls?..." I thought to myself.
"More so, why did it take children?" Vent said back.
"I always forget you can hear my thoughts. It's creepy."
I waited till a ship and crew picked up the children. Apparently children have been missing for months. Many questions were left unanswered. And I, being the cocky Guardian that I am, felt it upon myself to track down these answers.
