What do you guys prefer?

I like original short stories. I'm a sucker for official canon, so fan-fics usually don't appeal to me. That's not to say I can't get in to them if I give them a try.

Prefer something with lots of content and a highly detailed environment that I can really imurse myself in.

Fan fics and short stories. Eventually I'd really like to write longer narratives.
