I know a decent amount but the game let down my expectations from pre-release and ViDocs

  • Yeah, idk i'm more than satisfied with the way they started it out. I think if you expected everything to be in the first game, you were let down. I never expected that to be the case. Once they mentioned a 10 year plan, I stopped thinking about this Destiny being a blockbuster movie, and thinking about it as an epic trilogy. Think about it this way, The Lord of the Rings as a whole is an epic masterpiece of literature. But even that had to be told in three parts. If you expected to get the whole story in the first part, you would be sorely disappointed. And you wouldn't consider The Two Towers or The Return if the King as sequels, would you? It's technically one story, just broken into thirds. That's what I want for Destiny. I think bungie knew they'd never get the full Destiny story in any one game. In fact, I doubt they ever really tried. I don't think they ever intended to put the full story in the first game. Instead, I think Destiny as we see it today was designed to give us a taste of what was to come...Kinda like the first episode of a mini-series. You want to raise questions, get people interested, get people to say "ok...WtF did I just watch?!?! I'm definitely tuning in next week." We got to play, and have fun, we got to learn a little bit about what's going, but we're still learning about the world around us...just like our guardian is. Think about it -no one in the game knows anything about what happened. No one. We shouldn't expect to learn it all right away. Not yet. If we did, then there'd be no point to Destiny 2. I don't want a sequel. I want one long, bad ass, story. So far so good, I think.

  • You have broadened my mind thank you. I wish they could have told us instead of us feeling as if Bungie is letting us down (I don't agree with 4 DLC that should have been included (I permit the comet half way expansion though))

  • Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about the DLC. It makes sense in a way: if we got all the content at once back in September, would people still be playing? Probably not, they'd be done with the game in a month, and have no real reason to keep playing. They would have done all the raids, played all the missions, gotten all the story. And there's no guarantee they'd come back for Plague of Darkness, or even a second or third game. So I think to keep the interest level up, they did the right thing. And it's worked. Destiny has stayed relevant for longer than most games do - I mean here we are 6 months in, and we're not even done yet. That said, $20 bucks on paper seems to be a pretty steep price to pay every time, especially since we already paid $60 for the game. I know it doesn't seem like much, but I think $15 bucks per DLC would've been much easier to swallow, especially since we didn't get too much more in terms of content. Although honestly, they probably could've charged me double, and I still would've gotten my $'s worth based on how many hours I have into this game lol

  • I understand in terms of longevity but they are sapping more money from us, if we buy the sub DLC's then I home they make PoD free because if not I'm going to be skint... Having I but my own games (without a job as I'm 15) is quite hard as I save my money up for a car and house

Yeah I hear ya. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I enjoy paying to keep playing lol. My guess is that plague of darkness will contain 4 things: Destiny, TDB, HoW, and the Plague of Darkness DLC. That way people who haven't gotten Destiny yet can get it all at once, in a game of the year special edition bundle type package. Since those who have both DLCs already (like me) wouldn't need 3 of those things, we'll probably get just PoD for the regular DLC price: $20 bucks, which might actually be a bargain with all the content that's supposedly going to be in it. I mean, 12 story missions is already 4x more than what we get in either DLC. It sucks for those like you who probably have better things to spend their hard earned cash on, so it'd be nice if they offered it for free to those who bought both DLC already. I guess we'll see. Edit: you're 15? Props to you buddy, you seem 100x more intelligent and well spoken than some of the people on here who are at least twice your age. It's nice to see, so thanks. There's hope for us humans yet, lol
