No game has ever maintained its full player base long term. People quit games, it's a fact. Doesn't mean Destiny is dying. I still have no trouble finding people to raid with.
If the day comes you have to wait ten minutes to be matched up with two other players for a strike then you could say the game is in danger.

I get what you are saying, but the matchmaking will start you by yourself if it can't find anyone. Just fyi

Planetside2, guildwars, Warcraft, never winter and a load of other games managed to keep players for more than 6 months tbh

Nobody said we were using 6 months as a benchmark. For a fully fleshed PC MMO like WoW six months is nothing, in console terms it's an eternity. Too many good games coming out to take people's attention, helped by the fact you don't need to upgrade your hardware continuously to play those newer fancier games on console. How many people play a console game for a couple of months, beat it, and move on to something else. Not many keep people playing for as long as Destiny has, except maybe GTA:Online that has been going strong for a year and a half.

Any mmo(this IS an mmo) keeps people playing for ages. Console or PC, it doesn't matter. You think never winter will be a short term game? It will be the "go to" game for years. I play Warframe still after 2 years. Destiny, although fun, missed the mark and disappointed millions. Gamers are emotional and we need promises kept our we get bitchy. Lol

Gamers are getting more fussy all the time man. We're spoiled as hell these days to get games that see continued support and patches and DLC and stuff. My old NES, Sega Genesis, and N64 games came as-is and you got what you got, bugs and all. There was no DLC adding new dungeons to Zelda games but you could still play them over and over again. Hell, I still play some of those games today. So many games are disposable these days despite being incredible games. It's all "what have you done for me lately?"

Compare this game to the Original Xbox Halo1. Even with the DLC and most likely the HoW DLC, the original Halo had MUCH more content. That is the problem. We're not spoiled by DLC we're being taken advantage of! We used to get 40-50hours of story in a game before "DLC" became popular. Now for the same price we get 10-12 hours, with 3 or so more by spending $20 for DLC. Using your own example: Zelda: you got more story and play time in an 8bit NES cartridge! Wont even touch the content and story of the Final Fantasy series...

Yep! And because it's all about money, they better have something good:) nostalgia lasts 4 minutes

It is indeed dying completely

I would edit and say console game, ask Blizzard how World of Warcraft is doing...

Still their numbers are well shy of the 12 million or so subs it peaked at back in 2010, meaning yes, people still quit all games even WoW.
