The attack on Pearl Harbor destroyed countless war ships, and was instigated by America's refusal to supply Japan with oil. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were civilian cities, and America wanted to test out it's new toys. Since Japan was already surrendering, yes, bombing two civilian cities was an asshole move.
