I love when streamers talk about their twitch money like it won't run out. These kids don't have any real world skills, they don't know how to turn 10k into 50k and 50k into 100k, they only know how to play games, so when they eventually get too old or people forget about them, they will suddenly find themselves with no money, and no skills to make money, revealing the loser that has always been there.

How the hell do you know what they did before being streamers? Broman has been on a couple Destiny podcasts and talked about how him and Goth started streaming Borderlands and how much time it took to becoming full time players while still working back then. I agree both of them can be fun to watch at times and painful at other times but if you actually take time to see how peoples sterams go you will know that there are SO many trolls out there in chats and it can be infuriating at times I'm sure. Yes, they could handle it a bit better but they are doing a lot more good for the community than harm IMO. They wouldn't have so many people watching if they didn't provide a service that people found informative and entertaining. These guys, not just Goth and Broman, are all pretty decent players when they need to be. I usually watch them on Tuesday resets because I know they will already have some good strategies for 34/35 PoE and then on Friday I will watch tripleWRECK to see what he's doing for ToO. People who come on the boards to complain seem pathetic. Here's a tip for some of you: DON'T WATCH THEM IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEM!!!

I don't watch them. Why are you so mad? And you said yourself, they were working trying to become streamers, now what happens when people eventually stop watching? (they will) they will have to go back to those shitty jobs, and probably feel pretty embarrassed lol. Unless you're a professional entrepreneur, streaming, while fun and lucrative now, does lead to no where, you can't put professional streamer on a job application for a job that pays you an actual salary and not by the hour, which is the types of jobs they were and I suspect you are working. I don't care to watch em so I really don't give a shit, I just find it funny they think this will last forever so that gives em the right to be total dick heads. Doesn't work that way at a real job lol. And with their experience, I know I wouldn't even hire em, and I would hire damn near anybody with a work ethic.

  • It's no different than gaming companies selling remastered versions of old games. They do this to reel in the next generation of gamers who may have missed out on the game when it first came out. This provides a steady flow of reputation/etc. Streamers have it easy when it comes to this because once they reach the attention of a large number they will always have a new batch of viewers to hook. Once you're "at the top" your name will be listed at the top of whatever game it is and any first time twitcher will most likely view them first. At this point all the streamer needs to do is maintain whatever success model he initially used and they're golden. The only thing that will stop Broman and Co. is the removal of twitch

  • Not mad at all. Who is to say that streaming won't pay one way or another for a long time? 5 years ago we would have thought Twitch was a rediculous idea but here we are. There are streamers out there with 10x the viewers as these two and make well over 6 figures a year doing so. Who's to say they don't make enough money over a decade to not need a well paying "respectable" job. To say anyone won't have a source of income after they no longer stream is incredibly disrespectful. Also, why do you even care if they do or not?

History repeats, people move on. It won't last forever. Maybe one day you will be old enough to actually see it repeat. 5 years ago we we're also playing on 360 and thought it couldn't get better from here, its okay, most weak minded individuals do suffer from a form of recency bias and I'm sure you fall into that group. And 6 and 7 figures isn't a lot in this country, sorry to burst your teenage 'if I had a million dollars' fantasy, but people make 7 figures all the time. Hell, 7 out of 8 millionaires in this country are first generation. You can make 5 million dollars in this country and unless you know what to do with it, you will end up broke as shit. Why do you think all these uneducated lottery winners always end up in a bad place? They never got an education or any real world skills. And for the record. I don't care, I don't care about poor people in general, but guess what bud? This is a forum, where people are allowed to have conversations. Go find a dictatorship country if that's how you roll. Or hang out at Polygon where they implode if you don't agree with them.

First off, not a teenager. Also, I am part of the 6 figure club albeit just barely. You are right that it doesn't take much to turn 50k into 100k if you know what you are doing and yes, some people choose to think that a million dollars is enough to retire on. Which, i guess you could if you get 5-6% interest and can live off of 50-60k every year but most people don't think like that. If you want to get into a conversation about economics and investing strategies I would be more than happy to do so with you buddy. You can continue also thinking I am a child but I am 35 with a mortgage wife and kid on the way. All I am simply stating is that you are a douchebag for assuming that any streamer has no chane of making money beyond streaming. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. It's just very disrespectful to assume. Also, who the F ever said it won't get better than the 360? Incredibly ignorant post my friend. Just like "history always repeats itself" you should also know that technology always gets better. i am not sure if you are just bored or stupid but I am sure you can imagine which side I am guessing.

How can you say history doesn't repeat, and then claim to be in your 30's? I officially think you're full of shit, sorry about that, but the 30 years old in my life have a bit more common sense than you, friend. Of course technology always gets better, but has the uses for that better technology changed? From a consumer standpoint... Forgive me if I'm wrong, but game consoles have been game consoles since the beginning, and people have been using those to game since the beginning. Weapons are getting more advanced, but they are still used to kill/hurt. Cars are becoming more and more automated, but they are still used to get around..just like the beginning. We have Netflix, Hulu, amazon streaming, but we still use it to watch t.v just like the beginning...sensing a pattern here? Streamers, wether you like it or not, are on the same time line as the t.v antenna is, people are going to move on, its only natural. So unless these streamers are going to college, or building a business, or even learning to invest from an e.how article, they are eventually going to go broke. Once again I'll point to my example of the uneducated lottery winner. Yeah I'm assuming they aren't doing any of those things, but given the evidence, and the way they carry and represent themselves, I think its a pretty damned educated guess. Yes we're constantly evolving our technology, but the ways to use them haven't changed, at least from a consumer standpoint right? You can assume I'm stupid all you want, but I'm only 26 and I've been making 6 figures for 3 years doing what I love, extracting, for all the places in the state that need it, and for my own personal enjoyment. And I'm starting another high end glass website. So yeah, you're right, I am a gigantic douche who has no empathy or sympathy for a lot of things, but it comes from experience. And yeah, 5 years ago, there were multiple opinion articles in the gaming magazines I subscribed to back then asking the question "have we reached our gaming peak?" And so far, they have been right about that too, yeah we have consoles that can put out amazing graphics, but we're still playing the same FPS's and remasters, aren't we? I'm sorry but System Shock did the FPS/RPG years ago. Plus the PC has been outperforming consoles in the graphics department since day 1. My freaking laptop has a better graphics card than both consoles!

You can assume my age all you want. I have no reason to lie about it. I agree with with most of what you say btw. Just a bit short sighted to assume streamers will come and go. Yeah, most will but some may prevail. Twitch may also come and go and people may not always make money doing so but as long as people are playing games and people want to watch them then there will be streamers. I don't think game streaming as a whole is going anywhere anytime soon and as bandwidth increases across the world it will only get stronger. the top streamers we see now are just the tip of the iceberg as this new technology is still in its infancy. A new generation will come that will likely take it to the next level. Or maybe now, we shall see. Also, I never said history doesn't repeat itself. You are right that the games themselves havent changed much but that is just part of the big picture. The technology around the games has drastically improved since last generation. Streaming out of the console is one, remote play wether it's through the Vita or letting someone else play on your console is a big one, DVR technology to record game clips and screenshots right out of the console is big and love it or hate it, I love snapping TV/Netflix while playing on X1. It's THOSE kinds of things that continue to improve every generation beyond just graphics. I personally think graphics are over rated and cost too much time and resources when it could be spent taking games to new levels rather than just eye candy.

  • Raymonator is so mad because he is obviously a fanboy of Broman and Goth. There is no way to reason with one of their biased closed minded viewers. They can see no fault in their idols.

  • Let's try rereading my post. I even said that at times they can both be painful to watch. I am simply stating that if you don't like them, don't watch them.

  • What's hilarious is that neither talk about their money that is earned as being an entertainer. They will always tell you it is childish to discuss what they make and tell you it is none of your business.

  • Maybe they don't or maybe they do. Either way they are smart enough to take what most of us are doing for leisure and make it a profitable activity, all while having as much fun as the rest of us. Sounds like a good deal to me. Their arrogance isn't any different than your post or the majority of the posts that go down on these forums except that when they do it it's seen or heard by many because of the social nature of twitch.

They don't lol. And making money doing something you enjoy isn't as rare as you think. That's a middle class mind set you have right there bud. I have a friend who makes a grip streaming his PC games, you know what he did before? Subway sandwich artist. And he has no plans to continue his education when people eventually stop watching, and believe me, its entertainment, people will move on.
