Probably because it revolutionized gaming and it's consistent and has a good story. It's not for everyone though, and people all have their own taste. :] I grew up playing Halo, which is part of the reason I love it so much.
That and Halo and Gears is all Xbox/Microsoft has.

One of the first games I ever played on the original Xbox as well. :) The second game I ever played on it, if I'm remembering correctly.
