  • Interesting on the loss of IQ points. I wonder if that happens with alcohol as well?

  • I think it's been a long time understanding that alcohol kills brain cells.

  • Actually, recent studies have shown that it promotes growth. The whole loss of brain cells theory was based on a study in the 70s where they continually pumped marijuana smoke through masks attached to monkeys. If you know anything about smoke, it constricts oxygen from getting to the brain. Thus, the continual pumping of the smoke was beyond overkill. This isn't to say that smoking it doesn't kill brain cells, as with any smoke including cigarettes it IS harmful. Just not as much as most would make you believe. However, if not inhaled, it does not have the same effect. I am not promoting drug use, I am just enlightening.

  • For starters friend, I was speaking about drinking alcohol, if you look back. Additionally, there's no way it could promote growth of brain cells. We develop a finite amount of nerves that do not regenerate, divide or duplicate. As for marijuana, the link I posted states studies on its effects on cognitive functions, feel free to take a look.

  • I did look. Second, you are correct about them not being duplicated. HOWEVER, by growth what I meant is it stimulates brain cells to well adjust to outside thinking. Thus stoner moments like "Chicken Pot Pie, my three favorite things." In the average person they may seem slow and lethargic, however in an intellectual it can actually cause the brain to operate on a higher functioning level. This is mostly seen with ADD and ADHD patients, though this is normally being that their brains operate backwards compared to the average person. And by backwards, I mean caffeine may put a person who suffers from ADHD to sleep, or methamphetamine (Riddlin, Concerta and Adderol) will cause them to calm. "Growth" was a term I was using for higher thinking. Though this is not the case with most. So, in short, if you have a question, just ask, don't be a dick.

  • I didn't ask anything, and I don't think I was being a dick. You seem like an intellectual who is also a pothead, heh. But there are consequences to the brain that occur when using marijuana as a minor. Really never have heard of what you're saying before, but adults don't really suffer long-term cognitive impairment so I guess it's not impossible.

  • Also, I enjoyed this exchange. If ever you want to debate, give me a holler. You seem intelligent and well-versed. I am what I would like to consider an intellectual and spend 90% of my time studying Theoretical Physics. (Aka Fringe Science or to others, bullshit.) =D

  • Haha, yea of course. Nice, I love learning about physics and all its branches and concepts, but I'd never throw my mind into the mathematics of it. Just too much of a hassle for me. That's why biology and I are great friends.

  • I don't blame you there. Have you ever sat down and read Quantum Evolution by John Joe McFadden? It's a bore-fest, I'll save you the trouble! =P Biology is awesome! For example, the Appendix, why the hell do we still have one? Or the fact that men have nippers because at one point we were able to breast-feed. Or even (relevant), why does the brain have receptors in it that are specifically designed for processing and taking in Tetrohydrocannabinol? Science is spectacular from all standing, I just wish more shared our passion.

  • It would be nice, and I'm sure it'll happen eventually when education is really perfected. But these days, most people have to keep their heads pointed forward if they want to make something of their lives, and it becomes easy even for the people who are passionate about these things to forget about them. I don't think one life is enough to really live. As cheesy as that sounds, heh.

  • Have you ever read The Egg? It's an interesting take on reincarnation which can be reinforced by more recent events with children recalling events they never could of possibly remembered. ( I am not disputing the various cosmic entities that many call god. Merely providing an interesting perspective.) http://www.galactanet.com/oneoff/theegg_mod.html Case being: (Best examples) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWyHuN1G1vk And http://sfglobe.com/2015/03/26/little-boy-solves-old-murder-and-claims-it-was-his-own/

  • That's the problem with text based chat, I begin assuming. You know what they say about that. However, you are completely accurate, if used at a younger age your risk of ill effects are MUCH higher. Mainly being depression and anxiety. Thanks for being reasonable.

  • Also, after reviewing that link, it is merely biased propaganda. Where a lot of it is true, it fails to mention anything good about it, such as it's many uses to stunt tumor growth and multiple uses for inhibiting pain in diseases such as Neuro Fibromatosis or even less serious conditions like Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Before you propogate the ill effects, you should also be willing to debate the possible benefits a user can receive. This is not an attack, though I know you will lash out.
