Here's the deal:
People no longer trust Bungie.
They have lied to the community over and over.
Each DLC has been worse and worse. What started off as a fantastic game has become less and less original and more of a boring grind. Bungie insists that the players are not playing the game "properly". Each generation of weapons continue to decline in quality and playability.
Slowly but surely, Bungie has been draining the "fun" out of the game.
The PvP has become a nightmare, especially on PS4. The lag and cheating are out of control, with nary a word from Bungie on what they are going to do to fix it.
Many people have found more fun options to this game.
And it continues...

I think House of Wolves was a step in the right direction. I definitely think it was better than the dark below

It started off as a good step, despite there being no raid. Unfortunately, PoE was misrepresented as having a random modifier and playlist each week. Instead it turned out to be simply six fixed playlists. It became boring very very quick. ToO was a great idea for the competitive PvP crowd. Unfortunately, they created a forum for the worst cheating seen to date. And it has since spilled over into the more casual PvP events. And there is absolute silence about any fixes to correct that situation. Swinging the ban hammer took forever, and was clumsily done. And it missed a ton of flagrant violaters. The HoW weappon quality is extremely poor. I'm all for moving on to new weapons, but Bungie insists on making the more and more mediocre. You really can't use the PoE weapons in level 34 or 35 PoE if you expect to win. Flat out stupid.

Yea I understand what you are saying. I do wish POE had a little more variety, but I think the problem is more with the company response time to things rather than the content idea. Hopefully TTK will be a good balance and give us a real expansion
