I also have seen plenty of people who took it act like morons, so there's also the anecdotal evidence that it is messing with your brain even if it is wrongly classified. My view is that like any other drug, it should only be used when prescribed. We wouldn't even be having this conversation if it was about using any other prescription painkiller for recreation. Drugs of this nature affect the brain. This much is proven. Using recreationally usually means long term. Any drug used long term, whether legal or not, can lead to complications. This is a stance that is against all drugs used recreationally. I'm not supporting tobacco and dissing marijuana because it would cut into tobacco sales, and I'm certainly not one of those who is against marijuana because it would damage the logging industry. There are uses for marijuana, but recreational usage is dangerous just like with any mind altering substance. That being said, I still would rather have it legal than illegal, because regulated drugs wouldn't have the surprises non regulated drugs still have in them. Obvious exceptions are that meth and heroin and other such drugs of the highly addictive nature (and yes I know marijuana isn't highly addictive) should never be made legal, because there is no safe way to use them.
