Most people that watch the nba, for example, can't dunk a basketball, or run as fast as a running back in the nfl, or whatever, while most people that watch streams can easily play the game themselves

That's not true at all. Some people are good at the game and some people are bad. Same goes for sports lovers and viewers.

Getting good at a game requires much less time and effort than getting good at a sport

It's still the same source of entertainment' is what's my point.. Not comparing gaming to sports but the source of enjoyment in watching them.
