Well from what I've seen most people in the boat of "save our exotics" also wanted their legendaries but now have moved on to exotics because they must be more important. I'm a little angered at our weapons being obsolete now but to be honest this game would get a little boring using the same favorites for years and years. If they brought back all the exotics later on and fundamentally changed them like the Suros I think it would actually help Destiny.
