Terrible choice of policy indeed, but nothing too surprising. It's been pretty clear for a while now that Bungie's trying very hard to substitute their older and more experienced / intelligent veteran community by a younger, more naive and less critical community that won't question anything they do and will chug down anything marked with a big "become legend" sticker on it.
