I agree it could have been handled better, but it is kind of weird to cater to fans of a game you don't have the rights to anymore and have no part in future iterations. I assume 343 has forums ? They probably should have just blocked users from posting in sections for games they don't own, akin to the way many Steam game discussions are setup.
