All you people who bashed destiny, you did this to yourselves. I have seen so many halo lovers bash destiny on these forums. Why would bungie want to keep this negativity about them and their new game on the forums? All it does is create a negative atmosphere for the people who actually play the game. I feel bad for the genuinely off topic posters. But for everyone who chirped destiny on here, you deserve it and you won't be missed at all.

  • More Destiny lovers bash destiny than halo lovers, Destiny has by far the worse community.

  • Destiny also has a much larger community than Halo does.

  • Hah. Hah. Ahahahaha. Anyway, let me ask you; Why would bungie want to keep the toxic members of the destiny community around who contribute more to the negativity? Barely anyone gets banned anymore. They just want the money. They're avoiding the real problems as always.

  • Yes because being a bungie fan and being able to read are directly related.

  • That's fine if you think that. But to stay on Bungies forums and post shit like this is exactly why they're showing you the door. If you hate bungie and their IP then don't be on their site.

  • You do realize that the vast majority of destiny bashing is done by people who have played destiny, right?

  • Yes but those people no longer play or care about it. They couldn't find the door themselves so bungie showed them where it is.

  • The new change won't push those people out. They have linked accounts already. Only people being shoved out are the people who don't own destiny. The majority of which aren't even bad forum users. I guarantee that the quality of posts will not improve whatsoever.

  • Didn't they say that they have to actively play the game rather than having played it once?

  • So we can't criticize the bad decisions and practices behind Destiny, and Bungie itself? We're all supposed to circle-jerk each other, sucking up all this cut content and disrespect? Yeah, no. I have no desire to stay with a company that purposefully segregates its community due to an inability to handle criticism.

  • Sure, you can criticize Bungie's decisions all you want. And if you're funding their current IP, you can do it right here in the public forums. If not, you can still criticize them in any number of public venues, or even on a private b.net forum, the company's just not going to be to subsidize your dissent with their public server resources. And while this may not be the friendliest corporate strategy in the world, it's a far cry from gestapo tactics, water-fountain segregation, trampling free speech rights, or any of the other wildly disproportionate parallels massively-entitled whingers have tried to draw in this very thread.

  • So preventing any sort of criticism is wrong, right? Wrong. An IP with this many problems behind it doesn't deserve funding until it's fixed its shit. Also: seg·re·ga·tion /ˌseɡrəˈɡāSH(ə)n/ noun the action or state of setting someone or something apart from other people or things or being set apart. Still a form of segregation, bud.

  • You have to remember that there is a difference between "criticizing" and the derogatory insulting/raging/not at all respectful comments that are prevalent not only in regards to Bungie and Destiny, but to...pretty much anything. It's one thing the restrict people from questing Bungie, but it is another thing entirely to restrict people from being so overwhelming negative. Bungie, if they choose, can use constructive criticism. Bungie can't use a majority of filth that comes from the minds of most of the people who are vocal about it. I'm not claiming that the reasoning Bungie has for doing this is justified, but it is certainly justifiable.

  • To an extent, yes. I understand the people who are vocal about their dislike, or hatred, of Destiny are loud, but they're such a small number of people. To impose a restriction effectively cutting off anyone who's been here for years, or take for example, me - who uses an alternate account as my main - they're effectively giving us a big fuck you by effectively putting us behind a paywall, without any regards to their senior members. The amount of people who dislike Destiny compared to those who do, is usually on a 1:5 or 1:4 ratio, based on polls. And the amount of them who stir up a storm of hate amounts to a negligle number. But to impose a forum wide restriction? Bungie's past decisions have been shady and underhanded, at best. This new practice confirms that all Bungie cares about, is keeping their field of cash-cows happy, and to weed out the ones who see past that deceit.

  • A for-profit company looks to make money and caters to satisfied customers in hopes of retaining their business. Wow, you've blown the lid off the scandal of the century! SOMEBODY GIVE THIS MAN A PULITZER STAT

  • I can see how you might think that, but I disagree that the point of this is to keep people from disagreeing with them. The people who most heavily use alts are the people who abuse the ability the most, only using those alts to post porn, bait, or do other derogatory things. You only have to remember that people like NoiselessPurse, Nubbin, and Dorit (amongst others) exist. Bungie does not benefit at all in terms of sales or overall public outlook by doing this, so I find it hard to believe that this was not due to the idiots who have ruined the fun for everyone else. I'm not saying it is a good thing or a bad thing. I'm just saying that perhaps your discontent should be directed more towards the members at fault rather than the company. Bungie is just a group of individual people like you or myself, trying to do what any company should do. Additionally, the actual amount of people that this affects is much smaller than the 1%, assuming that actually is the percent of active accounts not tied to Destiny. But all it really takes is any console where Destiny is provided and any account can be made valid. The only people who will actually be restricted are either those who choose to be or those who do not own a console at all, the latter being a tiny fraction of 1% of people on these forums. Those are the only people who should be complaining justifiably. And they should be enraged by the alt-abusers.

  • Alternately, direct your consumer-rage toward institutions that actually deserve it and conduct themselves criminally, like banks.

  • That's not relevant to the conversation. Banks don't have anything to do with what is causing people to get mad. Perhaps you have a point that people should be indeed by unhappy about the conduct of banks, but it is somewhat odd that you would bring up an irrelevant politically charged stance in way as useless as this.

Not directly relevant, sure. Just pointing out that it's pretty ridiculous for people to get super-spun out and fall all over themselves climbing up on a cross over a corporation changing the rules for posting on their corporate website when there's institutions actually committing criminal malfeasance with genuinely-harmful-to-societal-wellbeing repercussions far more deserving of your attention and effort. But by all means, keep fighting the terrible injustices occurring here on the Bungie dot net forums. They should have UN observers here what with all the human rights being trampled all over the place here, you know?

As if that's all that matters. Everybody is an individual built by their experiences and life. You can't fault people because they put value on something. Who are you to tell someone else that something they feel is important, isn't? None of the people here can change any of the problems in banking or elsewhere, nor could the time spent arguing about this actually do anything to help those bigger issues. Be pretentious all you want, you are no better than them. Why are you spending time trying to educate the stupid masses when you could actually do something important with your time? Perhaps you could even improve your ability to understand that I'm not even trying to go against Bungie's decision. I'm trying to help people understand the why of the problems involved, which is arguably a lot better than trying to tell people to go fight banking corruption.
