I can see how you might think that, but I disagree that the point of this is to keep people from disagreeing with them. The people who most heavily use alts are the people who abuse the ability the most, only using those alts to post porn, bait, or do other derogatory things. You only have to remember that people like NoiselessPurse, Nubbin, and Dorit (amongst others) exist. Bungie does not benefit at all in terms of sales or overall public outlook by doing this, so I find it hard to believe that this was not due to the idiots who have ruined the fun for everyone else. I'm not saying it is a good thing or a bad thing. I'm just saying that perhaps your discontent should be directed more towards the members at fault rather than the company. Bungie is just a group of individual people like you or myself, trying to do what any company should do. Additionally, the actual amount of people that this affects is much smaller than the 1%, assuming that actually is the percent of active accounts not tied to Destiny. But all it really takes is any console where Destiny is provided and any account can be made valid. The only people who will actually be restricted are either those who choose to be or those who do not own a console at all, the latter being a tiny fraction of 1% of people on these forums. Those are the only people who should be complaining justifiably. And they should be enraged by the alt-abusers.

  • Alternately, direct your consumer-rage toward institutions that actually deserve it and conduct themselves criminally, like banks.

  • That's not relevant to the conversation. Banks don't have anything to do with what is causing people to get mad. Perhaps you have a point that people should be indeed by unhappy about the conduct of banks, but it is somewhat odd that you would bring up an irrelevant politically charged stance in way as useless as this.

Not directly relevant, sure. Just pointing out that it's pretty ridiculous for people to get super-spun out and fall all over themselves climbing up on a cross over a corporation changing the rules for posting on their corporate website when there's institutions actually committing criminal malfeasance with genuinely-harmful-to-societal-wellbeing repercussions far more deserving of your attention and effort. But by all means, keep fighting the terrible injustices occurring here on the Bungie dot net forums. They should have UN observers here what with all the human rights being trampled all over the place here, you know?

As if that's all that matters. Everybody is an individual built by their experiences and life. You can't fault people because they put value on something. Who are you to tell someone else that something they feel is important, isn't? None of the people here can change any of the problems in banking or elsewhere, nor could the time spent arguing about this actually do anything to help those bigger issues. Be pretentious all you want, you are no better than them. Why are you spending time trying to educate the stupid masses when you could actually do something important with your time? Perhaps you could even improve your ability to understand that I'm not even trying to go against Bungie's decision. I'm trying to help people understand the why of the problems involved, which is arguably a lot better than trying to tell people to go fight banking corruption.

My miscontent is directed at Bungie to how -blam!-faced their past decisions have been, and how this one is more of the same. I do not own Destiny any longer, and I am not willing to pay $60 again for more of the same treatment. Bungie may be a company, but companies who disrespect their consumer-base are often the ones most hated. Bungie is quickly becoming that, and I have no further wish to be a part of that. Oh, and suppressing criticism shows only how much Bungie believes in their product.

  • I can see how you might be of that opinion.

  • It is an opinion, correct. What anyone else thinks, that's theirs to ponder.
