Like I told Jailbot, I don't know if exceptions or grandfathering was possible. Many folks assume this was an option and have no clue how the backend of the forum system architecture works. I don't know either which why I don't assume grandfathering was an option.
I do feel the benefits for the greater health of the community greatly outweigh the negative impact.
