If you are trying to predict future DLC you need to look at the directions they are taking rather than what the in-game stuff is telling you.
What we know
-In the same way TTK was called "The Dark Plague," the sequel is called "Destiny 2 - Shattered Suns."
This would suggest the direction the story will go is to Osiris, who we already knew was going to play a much larger role in the future.
-The Forge of Gods is going to be about the Cabal
What we can predict
-Since the Cabal in our Solar System are now effectively cut off from their Empire, the story can take two directions:
A) The Introduction of the Bigger Cabal
B) The Cabal searching for Warmind technology on Mars find something
-To rule out A: Destiny was originally setup in a 3 teir system of Game-2DLC-Expansion.
Every DLC rotating between one of the four races' story, the game effectively developing one race to its end with small bits of the others, and the expansion bringing in the Darkness aspect to that races story.
Obviously this might not be correct, as we have just finished our first cycle of the game and MicroDLC may have eliminated the DLC like TDB and HoW, but this is what I base predictions on.
The first game was Hive. It talked about Crota, the immediate threat that we could not beat, and then expanded to the greater ends of the Hive and how the Darkness affects it. We now know more about the Hive then any other race.
The DLCs serve to prompt the next step in that races story. In the same way TDB prompted TTK, HoW will prompt their select expansion that will involve the House of Kings. So we can assume that FoG DLC would be a way to prompt the Cabal higher story. The Emporer is obviously where that story is, and thus we assume Forge of the Gods will not be about him- but a prompt to get to him.
-So it goes to option B: The Cabal are searching on Mars for Vex and Warmind technology. Known Vex tech is the Black Garden, a major story element. Known Warmind tech is the remnants of Charlemagne's Vault (which originally would have housed Thorn) and Clovis Bray's Exo work.
-So what does this mean for the future DLC?:
-The next link in the Story is Osiris, which means something that happens during the upcoming Vex and/or Cabal story needs to get us there. I would suspect that to be Vex- as Osiris is in their network.
So the Cabal are probably not going to the Vex tech, as the Vex will handle that aspect as well as because TTK already touched on it. Which means they are going to find Charlemagne's Vault and/or the origins of the Exo.
So what does this mean
-In the same way the Reef gave us insight into the Awoken, the next game should give us insight into the Exo. The Cabal DLC will likely hint at it
Mostly through a more in-depth visit to Clovis Bray, the creator of the Exo.
-We will learn more about the Warmind's plans.
Rasputin, as of TTK, is trying to learn to step between worlds (I'm trying to make a thread about it if that statement sounds strange to you). He is also attmepting to protect something on Mars, and bring his brother and sister Warminds online.
Misc stuff
-The Faction items are currently staggered between the Base game, DLC 1 and DLC 2. It will likely stay in these three, but switch who has what. For example: Dead Orbit currently runs TDB reskins. In the DLC, it may run Base Game reskinned gear.
I'll edit in stuff that I think of; or I will completely forget and this line will be useless.
