When I used to play Destiny, I felt it was more Iron Banner that dictated what balance issues needed to be addressed.
Trials just exacerbated the more severe issues (i.e. Thorn, Final Round Efrideet's, The Ram, etc.) because in that game mode, a cheap kill is still a kill.
More on topic: Iron Banner for Y1 and the one IB I played from Y2 always displayed the strongest weapons. Not just in damage values, but also what was best in the meta. It used to be hand cannons (specifically the exotic ones), this year it's been pulse rifles.
[b]tl;dr[/b] Iron Banner is a perfect showcase of what are the strongest weapons and that's where most of the complaining starts. Trials only makes these complaints worse as each death is more costly than a death in Control/Clash.
