As bungie has stated before: What makes an exotic what it is is that it behaves uniquely from other guns in the game.... not that it is more powerful.
This definition of exotic is strait from the Webster dictionary: "strikingly, excitingly, or mysteriously different or unusual."
So I disagree on the issue of exotics weapons power.... however... the fight I always pick both about legendary's and exotics is that they are far TOO COMMON in destiny. That is a part of why people run out of content so fast. Especially since three of coins were introduced, exotics come as often if not MORE often than legendary's... and that is not right.

Hate 3oC it ruins the incentive to do endgame activities. Go run a Nightfall or spend 5 minutes in patrol? I wonder what people will pick.
-
Nightfall is too easy this year and I don't like the modifiers. Burn was more fun when it was even on both sides. Trickle and Exposure just suck the fun out of the game for me, especially when they are both on... Which seems to be roughly every other week.
-
Then why can we only use one? That means bungie is trying to prevent fun for no reason or they're supposed to be very powerful. So which is it?
-
We are only allowed to choose one because it cuases players to choose a specific playstyle and adapt to the challenges the game presents. If we could use as many as we wanted then it would be pretty hard for bungie to make content that is challenging to us because we would be able to used something that is equipped for every situation simutaneously. Their decision to only allow us one causes a flow to the encounters in the game and more decison making on our end. Destiny wouldn't be very fun if we could easily blow through every situation due to too many weapons that suit every situation we would ever face. So I would argue they are promoting fun actually.
-
No... We are only allowed to choose ONE because they were originally the best, most powerful weapons.
-
Then they should remove legendaries as well. since they can be better than exotics. I mean exotics can be used for specific functions but those functions are so small now you'd have to carry so many.
-
When you say "better" you are most likely speaking in terms of damage output or ability to kill specific enemies faster. SO yes sometimes legendaries are better for that than exotics because not all exotics are made for that. Exotics are meant to suit the needs of very specific encounters. for example, the exotic sword razelighter kills grounded tier 2-3 enemies much faster than any other heavy weapon in the game... but use it against a flying target and you will have no such luck. Each exotic has their niche... they arent meant to be the most powerful and do everything better than legendary's do. They all stand out in one specific manner.
-
Yes, they are meant to be the most powerful. That's why you can only use one.
-
Year One. Exotics were the best guns... That's why you could only use one at a time.
-
no... year one black hammer, thorn, and ghally were the best guns.... most exotics were balanced. those guns were not meant to be as strong as they were, those were simply design flaws on bungies part.

Edited by Dr25697: 6/6/2016 4:54:45 PMDid you know this game was marketed as an MMORP adventure/shooter; not a same-as-every-other-game PVP experience? Most people purchased and play (or don't play) this game because of PVE. Cry able crucible babies ruined the game for the majority. Thorn was never overpowered in [PVE] Gally was... But it was also fun.
-
HAHAHAHAHA "Thorn was never overpowered in PVP" Im sorry but your post loses all credibility after that lol. before thorns original nerf it occupied the loadouts of close to 80% of trials of osiris players.... those stats should tell you something...
-
Dumbass
-
That was a typo... You could tel because it said PVEPV. Crucible crybabies ruined this game.
-
I agree that they are too common. 3 of coins isn't too bad. I think xur was a huge mistake! I understand how some people get frustrated by grind and rng but I think being able to buy exotics every week is what has made them so common
-
I had 1 of every Y1 exotic on all 3 of my characters. Lol. Only needed the vault for my few God roll Legendaries. Exotics too common, for sure.
-
Edited by ASASINSQRL: 6/6/2016 3:28:08 PMI think the point is, exotics are often worse than their legendary counterparts, and given certain rolls, are more unique. By the definition you provided, the legendaries could be classified as exotics and the exotics legendary since they always roll with the same perks.
-
I think that fact that exotics are being compared to their "counter parts" is a mistake the community is making. For example, before the april update eyasluna was "better" than hawkmoon because it had more range and accuracy than hawkmoon. But... if you are looking at the pure stats then you are missing the unique functionality of hawk moon... hawk moon had and has the highest damage output in a magazine across all hand cannons. THAT is what made it exotic. It was made to kill teir 2 enemies in pve better than any other hand cannon. It wasnt meant to be super accurate because of its high DPS.
-
It has three LItC, yes. But its accuracy is broken. Try landing consistant hits with it, I dare you. Red Death restores hit points and has decent range, but that's all it has going for it. Monte Carlo reduces grenade charge with every kill. The stats are meh. Super Good Advice refunds missed shots. Okay, stop bouncing so damn much and hit something. What I'm saying is there are better alternatives. Most of the time I run all legendary weapons (but not armor, gotta have my Ama Spine!)
-
Okay kewl lol. I dont think this reply discredited what i said at all tho. Hawk moon has the highest dps for any primary per mag, red death is the only primary that restores health on every kill, monte carlo regens your nade and melle faster than any other primary, super good advice has the highest chance of refunding shots out of any weapon in the game, black spindle has the highest dps for any special weapon in the game, bad juju and supercell kill tier 1 mobs the fastest out of any primarys in the game, plan c has the fastest ready time for any special and fastest charge rate after weapon swap, etc etc etc.... they all do at least a little more than any other gun in their class. They arent meant to be the BEST over all. They are meant to be the best at one thing even if it means being mediocre at other things.
-
Edited by ASASINSQRL: 6/6/2016 5:11:10 PMYet all of those weapons are less useful than the legendaries we use in place of them. Unique perk or not, you're going to take the gun that gives you the best chance of survival. Most exotics just don't provide that benefit. Oh, and stop arguing semantics. It's below you, Good Sir.
-
Edited by ImPraxic: 6/6/2016 5:40:56 PMWell thats fine! Use what you want dude, Im gonna use what is most efficient for my tasks. I solidly disagree with your remark about most exotic weapons not rpoviding your best chance for survival.
-
It seems we've reached an impass, so let's agree to disagree. Good day, Sir. PS My opinions means more and is therefore correct. Yours, being less important, is, logically, incorrect. I am right and you are wrong. If you were any more wrong you'd be in paradox, and if I were any more right, the clouds would split and I'd ascend into godhood. Let's hope that happens.

Lol xD #logic
