First off, Exotics were meant to be for the best of the best, but obviously, hat never happened either. Most of the best exotics at release were RNG based. TLW, Ice Breaker, Red Death, SUROS, the weapons you say were the Meta back then, were all RNG based. Not the best of the best players got them, randoms got them! In some peoples' case, Thorn is different. I did it when the cap was 30. It was actually earned back then. Why they never updated the bounty with appropriate levels, I'll never know. Invective, Juju, the old bounties, I also did from scratch during that time. THOSE exotics were earned and for the best of the best. At the time. It strikes me as odd in your "Exotics are obsolete" point that you say most probably got their exotics from mundane things, but if you played Year 1, did those bounties, hat wasn't the case. My first exotic was MIDA, and I got it in VoG for beating Atheon, the third week VoG was even out. You even say "Wow, this gun shoots poison!" As if people who did earn Thorn from that bounty achieved it in a mundane way. Now that's just a load of horse sh*t. I also disagree with your point that they had "previous godhood"; a lot of these exotics were just trash from the start! Sure, maybe it's wasteful, or inappropriate for them to be exotics in that case, but some people still use them. Your weapon is only as good as you are with it. Some people are gods with NLB, others are absolute garbage. Some people are great with MIDA, some people, regardless o the meta, are still trash with it. A weapon doesn't measure your skill, but the reason hese weapons got nerfed was because at some point the weapons DID measure skill, not how they were used. Vex was ridiculous, living in SUROS hell was ridiculous, and TLW Thorn hell was absolutely ridiculous, that coming from somone who was a part of and played against and in every meta. I used Thorn so much when I first got it, that almost a year later it is STILL the "favorite weapon" for Crucible in my statistics page. That's all I have to say about that. People are entitled to their own opinions. I jus happen to disagree with yours. (Which is part of my opinion)

  • We're talking about underpowered, bad weapons here. You can get thorn from any activity and thorn currently is terrible. Back when thorn was amazing, it was hard to get. So here's the difference.

  • But thorn was trash before it was good. It was so bad nobody used it. The very next day after its first buff, everyone had it out in pvp. It became the most use gun it first week after buff. Hence why you know everyone had it but didn't use it. It was trash in pvp and pve. It was way over buffed.

  • I didn't say it was easy to get. I said everyone had it. Well pvp players did. But no one used it. It suuuuuuucked so bad. The buff happened then that's all you say for months. I think it was very easy to get. Most everyone I know thought it was cake.

  • I was such a fanboy of its' design and Hand Cannons in general that I TRIED to use it. Played Gunslinger with the Chain of Woe perk to try and have the Reload be decent. It still didn't work out great.
